Job summary

A leading energy solutions company in Petaling Jaya seeks an experienced Finance Manager to lead financial strategies, oversee financial reporting, and ensure compliance with local regulations. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Finance or Accounting, professional certification preferred, and at least 3 years of finance leadership experience, especially in the energy or construction sector. Demonstrable analytical skills and proficiency in financial management software are required. This role also involves mentoring the finance team and managing cash flow effectively.

  • Strong understanding of Malaysian financial regulations and standards.
  • Familiar with PLC reporting requirements.

Job description

Develop and implement financial strategies to achieve company goals.

Conduct financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting to guide decision-making.

Provide timely and accurate financial reports to the CFO and senior management.

Financial reporting and compliance

Ensure compliance with local financial regulations and standards.

Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies as required.

Collaborate with the Finance team to prepare financial statements and reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

Handling the full set of accounts

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Develop annual budgets, forecasts, cash flow statements, costing analyses, and project cost allocations.

Reconcile accounts, post journal entries, and maintain an accurate general ledger.

Prepare and analyze balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash flow statements, and variance analysis.

Team Leadership and Development

Manage and mentor the finance team.

Oversee day‑to‑day activities of the finance team, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.

Conduct regular performance reviews and identify opportunities for professional development.

Cash flow management

Monitor and manage cash flow to optimize working capital and liquidity.

Implement effective cash management strategies to mitigate financial risks.

Identify and assess financial risks, proposing strategies to mitigate them.

Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets.

Financial Operations

Supervise and review financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Collaborate with external tax advisors to optimize the company's tax position.

Tax planning and compliance

Ensure accurate and timely tax filings, adhering to local tax laws and regulations.

Collaborate with external tax advisors to optimize the company's tax position.

Stakeholder communication

Communicate financial performance and insights to key stakeholders, including the CFO and executive team.

Participate in financial discussions and presentations as required.

Ad‑Hoc

Assist in annual bank reviews and handle ad‑hoc assignments.

Diploma/ Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.

Professional certification (e.g., CPA, MIA, ACCA) is preferred.

Proven experience 3 years in a finance leadership role, preferably within the energy or construction industry.

Strong understanding of Malaysian financial regulations and standards.

Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills.

Advanced proficiency in financial management software and MS Excel.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Familiar with PLC reporting requirements (including quarterly announcement, corporate governance, ESG, etc).
