Job summary

A global inspection and certification company in Malaysia is seeking a Field Technician to conduct sampling and well integrity surveys both onshore and offshore. The ideal candidate should have a technical certificate, 3-5 years of experience in onsite analysis, and proficiency in English. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills are necessary, along with the ability to maintain compliance with health and safety standards. This role may involve traveling to various work sites on short notice.

Qualifications

Job Description
  • To carry out base coordination, equipment maintenance, well integrity survey, fluid sampling and analysis duties at onshore and offshore locations within Malaysia and overseas as required
  • To carry out base equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, wet gas metering services, fluid sampling and analysis duties at onshore and offshore locations within Malaysia and overseas as required.
  • Tobe responsible for interfacing with the client and producing detailed job reports. He will also be responsible for pre and post-job equipment preparation, servicing, and calibration as required.
  • Sr. Field Technician may be requested to work alone or as part of a team and perform the following specific duties (with training where required):
  • Perform sampling of produced reservoir fluids (oil, gas, water, and drilling fluids) and solid, well integrity survey using specific equipment for which the technician has been adequately trained and has been verified to operate correctly in accordance with applicable standards and procedures.
  • Must be capable of evaluating, processing and recording of relevant well data and conditions.
  • Able to maintain base facilities in good condition, coordinate logistic, equipment maintenance with compliance of SGS safety requirement and standard procedures.
  • Able to effectively deliver a field report to the onsite customer representative; must also work closely with the SGS data engineering team to ensure final reporting is carried out to customer satisfaction.
  • Must record any non-conformity and advise/recommend any method, procedural or operating improvements.
  • Be proficient in performing the following onsite analysis:
    • Solid Sampling using Sand Sampler and Sand Box
    • Underwater gas and liquid sampling
    • Well Integrity survey
  • With specific training, perform additional sampling and analytical services such as:
    • Well Integrity survey including Liquid level Survey and Leak Rate Measurement
    • Preparation of reports both field versions and final job reports
    • Attend external & internal training courses as required
    • Provide supervision, training and management of lesser trained technicians
    • Adhere to SGS ethics policy
    • Maintain a quality and safety awareness culture
  • Adhere to SGS Code of Integrity and client confidentiality agreements.
  • Adherence to SGS Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Policy by uphold a good safety behavior and exercising necessary standard and process when carry out your responsibilities at all times to ensure compliance to the HSE requirements.
  • Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by the reporting manager and/or Senior Management
Qualifications
  • Certificate in appropriate technical subject.
  • Minimum 3-5 years previous work experience in sampling and/or onsite analysis.
  • Must be fluent in English with excellent communication and report writing skills.
  • An aptitude for troubleshooting of both mechanical and electrical instrumentation.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work on site for extend periods of time.
  • Self-motivated, sets high standards and cares about QHSE
  • Team player

  • Must be able to work with limited supervision
  • Strong computing skills especially in Ms Excel and Word.
  • Good working habits which include attention to details, cleanliness and a cooperative attitude toward co-workers and superiors.
  • Must be able to work up on a call-off rotation-based schedule at domestic, international and offshore work sites occasionally on short notice
  • A mechanical aptitude with an interest in chemistry and engineering is a must along with a willingness to learn, to follow instructions and to precisely record results from laboratory and field tests. Must be able to work with limited supervision and be self-motivated.
