Job summary

Job description

We are searching for an experienced Facilities Engineer at our Malaysia facility.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities
Position Summary

The Facilities Engineer is responsible for managing and optimizing facility operations, as well as overseeing Environment, Safety, and Health (ESH) matters. This role requires ensuring compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Environment (DOE) regulations, including handling schedule waste management, chemical management, and coordinating audiometric tests as necessary. The Facilities Engineer will play a pivotal role in maintaining a safe and efficient working environment, implementing ESH policies, and driving continuous improvement in facility systems and processes.

Primary Responsibilities
Environment, Health and Safety
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety management programs to ensure compliance with local OSHA regulatory requirements, DOE regulations, and company policies.
  • Submit recommendations for improvements and additions to the safety management program, including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote a safety culture and provide guidance on best practices.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Coordinate and conduct employee training programs on Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) topics.
  • Review Job Hazard Assessments and Work Instructions, ensuring all potential safety hazards are documented, and training is in place to mitigate the hazards.
  • Respond to any reports of hazards or injuries and drive corrective action or process improvement.
  • Work with the Engineering team during the Installation Qualification phase to assess safety risks using tools such as Process Safety Audits (PSA), Job Hazard Assessments (JHA), and Safety Risk Assessments (SRA).
  • Manage schedule waste disposal, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to environmental standards. Handle chemical management, including storage, usage, and disposal in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Coordinate and arrange audiometric tests for employees as required, maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans, conduct drills, and provide training to ensure a safe and prepared work environment.
Facility Management
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of company facilities, ensuring a safe, efficient, and well-maintained work environment.
  • Collaborate with external vendors to schedule and perform routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Monitor and manage facility budgets, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or functionality.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and other relevant standards.
  • Responsible for regular Preventive Maintenance (PM) inspection, maintenance and consumable replacement of compressed air system, clean room air conditioning system, ice pump and related equipment.
  • Monitor the energy consumption of the factory, put forward energy-saving suggestions and plans, and implement them.
  • Handle the scheduling and management of hazardous waste, ensuring compliance with local regulations and environmental standards.
Morale / Leadership

  • Lead the Site Safety Committee in Monthly Meetings.
Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Facility Management, Maintenance Management or relevant field, or;
  • Diploma in relevant field, with more than 5 years of relevant working experience.
Experience
  • More than 1 - 3 years of safety program management or the equivalent combination of education and skills.
Other Requirements
  • Preferably certified Occupational Safety and Health Coordinator (OSHC).
  • Knowledge of Department of Environment (DOE) regulations and experience in handling schedule waste and chemicals.
  • Familiarity with audiometric testing procedures and occupational health and safety standards.
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma and 5S.
  • Experience in manufacturing operations.
