Job description
Senior Executive, Database Administrator (DBA)

The Database Administrator (DBA) will assist in managing, maintaining, and securing the bank’s database systems to ensure high availability, performance, and data integrity. This role involves working closely with senior DBAs, developers, and IT teams to support database operations, troubleshoot issues, and implement best practices in a banking environment.

Key Responsibilities
Database Maintenance & Support
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, hardening and upgrading of database servers (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, DB2).
  • Apply patches and updates to database systems as required.
Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting
  • Identify and resolve database performance issues (slow queries, locks, deadlocks).
  • Assist in optimizing SQL queries and indexing strategies.
  • Monitor database health and elevate critical issues to senior DBAs.
Security & Compliance
  • Implement and enforce database security policies in line with banking regulations (e.g., GDPR, PCI‑DSS, SOX).
  • Manage user access controls and permissions.
  • Assist in database audits and compliance reporting.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and drills.
Other Responsibilities
  • Work with application developers to design efficient database schemas.
  • Maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Provide support for production and test database environments.
Qualifications & Skills
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Experience
  • 1‑2 years of experience in database administration (internship or entry‑level role).
  • Familiarity with RDBMS (Oracle, MSSQL Server, MySQL and DB2) and SQL scripting.
Technical Skills
  • Basic knowledge of database backup/recovery, performance tuning, and security.
  • Understanding of Linux/Windows server environments.
  • Exposure to cloud databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL) is a plus.
Soft Skills
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a regulated, high‑security banking environment.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
