SENIOR ENGINEER, TECHNICAL PROPOSAL (JB & CYBERJAYA)

You will be responsible for providing high quality proposal solution driven pre-sales support, with a specific focus on targeted products matching the company’s strategic directions. This will include providing technical expertise to assist sales with designing custom solutions, resolving technical issues identified in the pre-sales process, responding to customer inquiries, and otherwise assisting in closing prospective business opportunities.
You typically decide whether it is worthwhile for the company to bid before putting together a proposal autonomously or with a team you lead.
Responsibilities
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Work with respective sales personnel on respective markets in moving sales forward to completion.
- Completes necessary documentation to support the sales process including but not limited to RFQ, system diagrams, datasheets, write-ups, technical proposals and other similar documentations.
- Review the documentation prepared by the Technical team.
- Liaise with suppliers/manufacturers/project team members on pricing and technical compliance.
- Build, customize and deliver sales presentations, maintain and manage clients’ database and prospect data in our sales database.
- Pro-actively work with Sales team seeking new opportunities to win new markets and to fully understand customers’ business and requirements.
- Be actively involved in answering technical queries from customers pertaining to the sales: in matters of documentation, delivery and service levels.
- Work with Sales team and Department Managers in negotiating variations in price, delivery and specifications; advising on forthcoming project developments.
- Report to the Manager on weekly sales proposal activities/report; review sales performances in the relevant assigned systems/clients/markets.
- Assist the Manager in gathering competitors’ business information (intelligence) and relevant market research/analysis.
- Responsible for providing supplemental training on systems/products to internal colleagues.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to organize and staff road shows/exhibitions and marketing activities.
- Any ad-hoc duties assigned by immediate supervisor.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to translate technical information into layman’s terms.
- Documentation and project management skills for both internal and customer facing purposes.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong knowledge in any of these systems: PAGA, Intercom, PABX, CCTV, LAN, VHF/UHF/GMDSS Radio, Navigation Aid, Radar, Satellite Communication, Entertainment and Environmental Monitoring.
- Must have the ability to regularly communicate in a manner that is respectful, professional and collaborative.
Requirements
- Possess a degree in Telecommunications/Electronics/Electrical/ Computer Engineering/Mechatronics.
- In depth knowledge & experience in any of these systems: PAGA, Intercom, PABX, CCTV, LAN, VHF/UHF/GMDSS Radio, Navigation Aid, Radar, Satellite Communication, Entertainment and Environmental Monitoring.
- A minimum 4 years of experience in the Marine/Offshore /Oil and Gas industry.
- Good experience working in Technical Sales, Proposal or Engineering Design / Technical or Project Execution / Management position.
- Possess good written and verbal skills.
- Possess a high level of personal responsibility and self-motivation; with a ‘can do’ attitude.
- Able to travel frequently together with sales members and visit potential clients.
- Good analytical/problem solving skills/abilities.
- A self-starter with ability to multi-task and handle work pressure well.
