Job summary

A multinational technology company is seeking an experienced System Engineer to design and manage complex Unix/Linux systems. You will automate processes, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability in a critical production environment. Ideally, you have a degree in computer science or relevant experience, as well as familiarity with tools like Ansible and Python. Very good English skills are essential. This role requires on-call availability.

We are seeking an experienced System Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and operating our complex Unix/Linux infrastructure, including high availability solutions, automation, and continuous improvement of technical processes.

Job Description

• Install, configure and operate our complex Linux / Unix Infrastructure within our worldwide distributed data centers, including high availability solutions.
• Automate and continuously improve all technical processes.
• Perform availability and performance monitoring, including creation and customization of dashboards and alerts.
• Troubleshoot and solve problems as part of 2nd and 3rd level support in cooperation with internal customers and IT security support for the implementation of hardening/protection of the server systems and the running services.
• Consult on technology for our customers and create architectural concepts and implement them.
• Take over (sub-)projects independently from the design phase through development to productive usage.
• Create technical documentation, training and training material.

Your Profile

• Successfully completed a university degree in technical computer science (alternatively mathematics, physics with IT relevance) or have appropriate further training/relevant experience as an IT specialist.
• At least 3-5 years of professional experience in similar environments – ideally IT in a highly critical production environment.
• Good knowledge of one or more of the following IT tools: Ansible, Python, Rundeck, Git, Bitbucket, Puppet, Foreman, Kibana, Zabbix.
• Good knowledge of one or more of the following operating systems: Redhat, Ubuntu, CentOS, Solaris, HP-UX.
• First experiences in project management.
• Willingness to rotate on call (24x7).
• Independent, structured and methodical way of working.
• Very good English communication skill.
