A leading engineering firm in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to manage tender administration and cost estimation. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying and 5-8 years of relevant experience. Full Spectrum of tender administration including cost estimate, BQ preparation, review tender document, call quotation/ tender, evaluate tender submission, and prepare award recommendation.
Responsible for site visit and tender briefing and assist in project scope definition.
Review tenders and proposals for accuracy and consistency with proposal strategy.
Sourcing and determine suppliers/sub-contractors’ eligibility for inclusion in company’s vendors list.
Liaison and coordination with in‑house consultant regarding design preference/advantages and solutions.
Create schedule for construction execution plan including resource allocation to meet tender requirement.
Estimate and analyze the cost of the works including impact of alternate materials.
Analyze, evaluate and negotiate with suppliers/sub-contractors pricing for every tender.
Update tender costing database in form of unit rate for essential general material, machinery and labor cost.
Prepare bills of quantity from drawings take‑off with sufficient definition of work scope.
Feasibility study of job/contract offered from client/consultant/main contractor.
Develops accurate cost calculations.
Preparation/assist in submission of tender including method statements, work program, schedule of rates and resources chart.
To comply with ISO requirements and company’s policies/regulations/procedures.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, with practical experience and technical understanding of Mechanical & Process, Electrical & Control, and Civil & Structural works, particularly in preparing tender submissions.
At least 5‑8 years of related working experiences as a Quantity Surveyor.
Knowledge of the construction and engineering industry.
Construction estimating and costing experience.
Excellent mathematical/numerical and analytical skill.
Attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
Competent negotiation skill & process improvement mindset and attitude.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Problem‑solving ability & persuasive, positive and enthusiastic.
Ability to work independently collaboratively with a team.
