Senior Engineer, Engineering Data Management
Job Description:

One of our clients, a global oil and gas industry leader, is currently undertaking a major project in Malaysia. They are seeking a highly qualified Senior Engineering Data Management professional to join their team

Condition of hiring:

  • Type: Contract 2 years
  • Location: KL office
  • Malaysian candidates only

Role:

Lead data management for the Project, ensuring efficient data use throughout its lifecycle. You'll oversee the project database, document control, and engineering software (AVEVA) as the point of contact for data strategy and implementation.

Job Responsibilities:

Database Management:

  • Managing all engineering data for the Project, including the Enterprise Document Management System (EDMS) and engineering databases like AVEVA. This includes ensuring data security, accuracy, performance, and quality. You'll set up and enforce data management policies, perform backups and maintenance, monitor database health, and collaborate with IT to align project and asset IT needs, including budgeting. Additionally, you'll ensure the project database structure aligns with company policy, IT requirements, and future operational needs for a seamless handover.

Project Insights and Reporting:

  • Leverage BI tools (like Power BI) to analyze project data, identify trends & risks, and create insightful reports/dashboards for data-driven decisions. Identify areas for improvement and communicate findings to stakeholders.

Document Control and Engineering Software Management:

  • Lead document control for Project (EDMS, AVEVA). As data strategy & policy lead, you'll ensure timely doc exchange, manage feedback, update EDMS, and collaborate with contractors for smooth project execution.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:

  • Collaborate with departments, present clear data insights, and promote data-driven project management by fostering a collaborative data culture.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor\'s in CS, IT, Engineering, or a similar field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 15 years in Engineering Data Management (EDM) or similar role.
  • Proven experience with EDMS, BI, AVEVA, and data analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience with Oil & Gas and Shared Services preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft BI stack and SAP a plus.
