Micron Memory Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Senior EHS Engineer to lead environmental, health, and safety efforts across major construction, expansion, and equipment installation activities.
You will oversee site EHS programs, audits, and incident investigations to ensure regulatory compliance and safe project execution. The role supports the full project lifecycle, manages permit-to-work processes, and drives continuous improvement in EHS performance.
The Senior Environmental, Health and Safety Engineer will provide outstanding EHS leadership and field oversight for major construction, expansion, facility modification, equipment installation, and tool-hook-up activities. This role supports the entire project lifecycle from development through to close-out, ensuring a flawless execution. Along with additional assignments supporting site operational EHS activities. You will manage the adoption of Micron EHS programs at the construction site, conduct audits, identify areas for development, and maintain compliance with all regulatory obligations. Coordination with internal and external organizations regarding EHS compliance issues will be vital.
Construction EHS Management
Provide EHS leadership and field supervision for CSA, MEP, cleanroom, utility, equipment-installation, and tool-hook-up activities.
Support construction EHS planning, resource requirements, risk assessments, contractor mobilization, and site-establishment readiness.
Participate in Build for Safety reviews to eliminate or reduce construction, operational, maintenance, and demolition risks.
Review contractors’ EHS plans, organizational structures, proficiencies, HIRARC, JHA, method statements, emergency plans, and safe-work procedures.
Ensure adherence to Micron Construction EHS Standards, regulatory requirements, and approved project controls.
Monitor contractor EHS labor, proficiency, field supervision, and overall safety performance.
Conduct site inspections, audits, and field verification and drive findings to effective closure.
Liaise with authorities such as DOSH, DOE, BOMBA, CIDB on HSE issues.
Cultivate an improvement culture across all projects for a healthy, safe, and accident-free working environment.
Manage or support permit-to-work governance for high-risk activities.
Verify permits, proficiency records, risk assessments, equipment certificates, rescue plans, and emergency controls before work begins.
Conduct field verification to ensure approved controls are implemented and remain effective.
Lead or support investigations of construction incidents, injuries, near misses, property damage, and high-potential events.
Determine causes and verify the efficiency of corrective and preventive actions.
Prepare construction EHS reports, risk summaries, important metric updates, and management presentations.
Facilitate project EHS meetings, contractor safety engagement campaigns, and lessons-learned reviews.
Support regulatory submissions, inspections, notifications, and compliance activities.
Ensure adherence to ISO 14001, ISO 45001, RBA, and Micron EHS requirements.
Participate in audits and track findings through closure.
Support equipment and tool-installation safety evaluations, commissioning, EHS readiness checks, and project handover.
Capture project lessons learned for future controls.
Support site occupational safety and contractor safety initiatives.
Perform workplace inspections, audits, risk evaluations, and compliance checks.
Develop and deliver EHS training, contractor orientation, safety communications, and awareness programs.
Provide operational EHS coverage during project ramp-down, resource gaps, or changing business needs.
Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, Environmental Health and Safety, Engineering, Applied Science, or related field.
Minimum five years of relevant experience in construction EHS, industrial projects, semiconductor facilities, infrastructure, greenfield, or brownfield projects.
Demonstrated experience supporting major construction, facility expansion, utility, equipment-installation, or tool-hook-up activities.
Registered Safety and Health Officer accredited by DOSH is highly preferred.
Solid understanding of construction safety laws and regulatory requirements.
Working knowledge of Building for Safety, contractor EHS management, HIRARC, JHA, permit-to-work, and emergency response.
Proficiency in work at height, confined space, lifting, scaffolding, first aid, ISO 14001, or ISO 45001 auditing is an advantage.
Ability to review EHS plans, construction methods, risk assessments, and contractor proficiencies.
Experience in field inspections, audits, incident investigation, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action management.
Strong contractor-management, field‑leadership, communication, stakeholder‑coordination, and problem‑solving skills.
Proactive, diligent, and willing to transition into operational EHS responsibilities following project completion or based on business needs.
Strong knowledge of construction safety regulations and guidelines.
Excellent hazard identification and risk assessment skills.
Ability to influence and engage site personnel at all levels.
Strong communication, presentation, and report‑writing skills.
Diligent with strong problem‑solving abilities.
Proficient in MS Office and safety management systems.
