Job summary

Kingfisher HR Solutions Group in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an experienced Data Engineering Leader to guide a team delivering secure, scalable data solutions across our data estate, including data warehouses and BI reporting. You will run requirements sessions, review source system architectures, and set development standards to ensure performance, stability and extensibility.

Strong stakeholder communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/Data Science or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in data architecture and data-related roles.
• Expertise in data warehouse design, data modelling, ETL architecture and optimization.
• Strong SQL skills (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL or similar).
• Experience with data governance, data security and data quality frameworks.
• Experience analyzing production deployments, improving data quality in a data warehouse and recommending processing optimizations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Able to lead technical discussions and architecture reviews.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Data Engineering team, providing technical direction and support so they deliver secure, consistent and sustainable data solutions.
• Assess, develop and implement new capabilities in Data Management and Data Integration to improve the end-user experience and process efficiency.
• Establish development guidelines, standards and best practices for data management and data pipelines, ensuring performance, stability and extensibility.
• Lead Data Engineering and BI projects.
• Run requirements-gathering sessions with business and technical users, review source system architecture and schemes, and analyse requirements.
• Review technical design documents (integration specifications, data models, data marts, BI reports and dashboard designs) to keep project scope and changes properly documented.
• Oversee support of the Enterprise Data Warehouse, BI reporting and data integration points (internal and external systems), delivering services within SLA to minimize business disruption.
• Guide team performance and foster a high-performance culture.

Required Skills/Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of experience in data architecture and data-related roles (Data Warehouse, Data Lake, Data Management and/or Business Intelligence).
• Strong expertise in data warehouse design, data modelling, ETL architecture design and optimization, performance tuning and solution architecture.
• Strong SQL skills (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL or similar).
• Experience designing enterprise ETL and data integration solutions.
• Experience with data governance, data security and data quality frameworks.
• Experience analyzing production deployments, improving data quality in a data warehouse and recommending processing optimizations.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain complex technical topics in business terms.
• Able to lead technical discussions and architecture reviews.
