Job summary

Genki Sushi (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd seeks an experienced Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain robust ETL pipelines and data lakehouse architectures. You will work with analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to translate data needs into scalable technical solutions.

The role requires 5+ years in data engineering, strong Azure skills (Synapse, Databricks), and deep knowledge of data modeling and governance. On-site Kuala Lumpur with collaboration across teams and vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in data engineering or similar role.
• Strong expertise in Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks, and other Azure cloud technologies.
• Proficiency in Python, PySpark, and ETL automation.
• Experience designing data models, including star schemas.
• Experience with Data Management tools and dashboards.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work with large datasets and scalable data solutions.
• Track record of partnering with cross-functional teams.
• Experience with data visualization and analytics support.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines and ETL processes across multiple data sources.
• Design analytical solutions for strategic business problems through engagement and research.
• Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to translate data requirements into technical solutions.
• Implement and optimize data models, including star schemas, for efficient querying.
• Leverage Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks, and other Azure services to build scalable data infrastructure.
• Ensure data quality and consistency across all layers of the data lakehouse (bronze, silver, gold).
• Automate ETL processes using SQL, Python, PySpark, or other relevant technologies.
• Monitor and maintain performance, security, and reliability of data systems.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on best practices for data engineering.
• Document data pipelines, processes, and architecture for transparency.
