Job summary

A leading game development company in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Concept Art Creator. This role involves creating concept art for characters and environments, collaborating closely with the Art Director, and mentoring junior artists. The ideal candidate has experience in a lead role within the gaming industry and proficiency in tools like Photoshop, Blender, and ZBrush, along with a passion for visual storytelling and worldbuilding.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a senior or lead concept role on shipped games or film-quality projects.
  • AAA production experience with understanding of visual standards and pipelines.
  • Solid grasp of design fundamentals including composition and lighting.

Responsibilities

  • Create concept art for characters, environments, and props.

ABOUT THE POSITION
  • Create concept art for characters, environments, props, and key moments that define the game’s visual tone
  • Take ownership of visual briefs and translate ideas into clear, actionable concepts
  • Use 3D blocking, photobashing, and AI-assisted ideation to accelerate high-quality concept development
  • Develop and maintain a consistent visual direction across features or levels, supporting both artistic vision and gameplay readability
  • Explore visual ideas through thumbnails, moodboards, and iteration cycles, leading to polished production-ready concepts
  • Collaborate closely with the Art Director to ensure concept art aligns with the overall artistic vision and helps establish strong worldbuilding
  • Partner with Design and Narrative teams to ensure visual ideas are creatively inspiring, narratively grounded, and aligned with gameplay intent
  • Support cross-discipline needs by delivering keyframes, callouts, turnarounds, and paintovers for 3D, animation, and VFX teams
  • Review and give feedback on concept art created by junior and mid-level artists, helping elevate the overall quality bar
  • Help document visual targets and develop reference packs, guides, and documentation to align the team
  • Stay current with concept workflows, stylization trends, genre references, and tools to drive innovation in how the studio explores visual ideas
  • Experience in a senior or lead concept role on shipped games or film-quality projects
