Responsibilities:
- Program CNC grinding machines.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Set up grinding machines for high‑precision parts.
- Select grinding wheels based on material and surface requirements.
- Modify programs for improved machining performance.
- Align and secure workpieces using fixtures, vices, or magnetic chucks.
- Set up and operate coordinate grinding machines.
- Configure CNC tool paths for complex contours.
- Manage multiple grinding operations simultaneously.
- Evaluate and correct taper, roundness, and run‑out issues.
- Maintain strict traceability and inspection records.
- Review and approve first article inspections.
- Suggest tolerance relaxations where machining constraints arise.
- Monitor wheel wear and replace when necessary.
- Set wheel balance and truing for vibration‑free grinding.
- Apply coolant strategies for thermal control.
- Create and maintain wheel usage logs.
- Design custom jigs and fixtures for difficult‑to‑hold parts.
- Recommend new wheel specifications based on material evolution.
- Reduce tooling consumption through optimized programming.
- Minimize scrap due to incorrect wheel setups.
- Analyze tool life and optimize replacement schedules.
- Optimize dressing frequency and methods.
- Reduce thermal distortion through optimized coolant flow.
- Conduct time studies and recommend improvements.
- Implement lean grinding cell concepts.
- Drive automation through bar feeders or robotic arms.
- Stay updated on the latest grinding technologies.
- Attend training sessions on new machines or software.
- Benchmark best practices from global facilities.
- Participate in trade shows and technical expos.
- Evaluate new grinding machines for potential investment.
- Maintain inventory of grinding wheels and accessories.
- Request tool reorders based on minimum stock levels.
- Provide feedback on customer part prints for grinding compatibility.
Required Skills:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in CNC grinding.
- Expertise in using precision measurement tools.
- Ability to maintain quality and production reports.
- Advanced knowledge of CNC grinding machines.
- Knowledge of workplace safety procedures.
- Deep understanding of grinding defects and corrections.
