Job summary

A leading tax consultancy in Malaysia is looking for a Senior Associate to advise clients on indirect tax issues including VAT and customs duties. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Economics or Finance and 2-3 years of relevant experience. Fluency in English and Malay is required. This role offers the opportunity to develop strategies for risk mitigation and tax compliance management.

Job Description & Summary

A career in our Indirect Tax practice, within Tax services, will provide you with the opportunity to help our clients meet and manage their tax obligations across unique but ever changing tax specialties. You’ll advise clients on their local and overseas tax affairs, while acting as a strategic consultant related to business analysis, managing indirect taxes, dispute resolution, and global enterprise tax solutions.

Our team helps our clients optimise cash flow and reduce risk by managing challenges related to indirect taxes. You’ll support our clients with all aspects of indirect taxation related to global, regional and domestic projects as well as comprehensive restructuring and reporting value added tax projects.

Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice on indirect tax issues, including VAT, SST, customs duties, and other related taxes.
  • Conduct thorough tax compliance and indirect tax return preparations.
  • Identify and assess indirect tax risks and opportunities for clients.
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks and capitalize on savings opportunities.
  • Supervision of day-to-day administration of a client portfolio.
  • Carry out SST research and preparation of SST reports/advices.

Requirements
  • A recognised degree in Economics, Finance or related subjects or professional accounting qualification
  • At least 2-3 years’ track record of SST related working experience
  • Working experience in SST implementation work would be an added advantage
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and Malay languages
  • Well organized, able to multitask and priorities assignment
