About the Job

The Security Manager is responsible to ensure the safety and security of guests, staff and assets through quality management of fire prevention, emergency response, OHS program, the risk management program and security inside the site of Desaru Peace Holdings Club. Responsible for the leadership and management of all functions of the Security Department, in accordance with hotel standards. Train all colleagues in maintaining loss prevention standards throughout the hotel. Implement and drive loss prevention awareness throughout hotel. Implement Crisis Management Plans and Emergency Procedures whenever necessary in accordance to company standards.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the patrols of lobbies, corridors, and public rooms, staff village and staff bar, industrial areas in accordance with programmed patrol schedules.
  • Confer with management and interview guests, visitors and employees to detect infringements and investigate disturbances, complaints, thefts, vandalism, and accidents.
  • Manage the patrols of public areas to detect fires, unsafe conditions, and missing or inoperative safety equipment.
  • Provide first aid assistance for accident victims, write and distribute accident and incident reports.
  • Be part of the Emergency Planning Committee and assist management and enforcement officers in emergency situations.
  • Manage the maintenance and operations of fire indicator panels within the establishment.
  • Be familiar with the types of fire detectors and their operation and requirements within the Resort.
  • Be familiar with the location and operation of portable fire protection equipment and hose reels.
  • Be familiar with the operational use of emergency equipment and vehicles.
  • Provide records / reports pertaining to duties as required to the protection of Desaru Peace Holdings Club as required by the Director, Rooms.
  • Maintain personal presentation of self and team to Desaru Peace Holdings Club standards.
  • Manage the risk management program.
  • Attend and actively participate in risk management meetings.
  • Assist nursing staff with medical emergencies.
  • Attend OH&S committee meetings.
  • Assume all OH&S responsibilities in absence of the Workplace Safety Officer.
  • Demonstrate professional attitude and behavior at all times.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and improve personal performance and the performance of the Fire, Life and safety Team on a continual basis.
  • Participate in training programs as required.
  • Deliver Orientation and other training in relation to risk management and emergency procedures.
  • Interact with Department and Resort staff in a professional and positive manner to foster good rapport, promote team spirit and ensure effective two‑way communication.
  • Deal effectively with guests and workplace colleagues from a variety of cultures and backgrounds, displaying tact, diplomacy and assertiveness where required.
  • Lead, manage, recruit and train the Emergency Response Team.
  • Deliver high quality service to guests and staff in accordance with the Desaru Peace Holdings Club Service Standards.
  • Ensure guest needs and reasonable requests are met in a timely manner.
  • Seek opportunities to continually improve guest service.
  • Take appropriate action to resolve guest complaints and alert the necessary departments if necessary.
  • Maintain a high level of product service knowledge in order to explain and sell services and facilities to guests.
  • Be aware of duty of care, and ensure adherence to workplace health & safety legislation, policies and procedures, including Workplace Health and Safety, and Responsible Service of Alcohol.
  • Initiate action to correct a hazardous situation and notify Workplace Safety Officer of actions being taken.
  • Enforce and manage resort’s security and emergency policies and procedures.
  • Be familiar with property safety, current first aid, and emergency procedures.
  • Log security incidents and accidents according to resort requirements.
  • Carry out other tasks as directed by Executive Committee.
Expectations
  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Current Driver’s License.
  • Previous management experience.
  • Senior First Aid Certificate working towards certificate in basic first aid.
  • Qualified Workplace Health and Safety Officer is strongly desirable.
  • Firefighting experience / with team management on the fire ground preferable.
  • Adult teaching qualifications is an advantage.
  • Confined space rescue trained or ability to be so trained.
  • Competent in use of Word, Excel, Power Point, Access and risk management software.
  • Knowledge of duty of care and how Occupational Health and Safety legislation, policies and procedures impact on the resort.
  • Knowledge of risks to be assessed when designing emergency policies.
  • Knowledge to assess and write policies and procedures for Desaru Peace Holdings Club and the Employee Handbook.
  • Relevant experience in OH&S and Workers Compensation is desirable.
