We are seeking to appoint a qualified and committed Secondary School Accounting Teacher to join our team.
Purpose
The purpose of the role is to maximise student learning and development through the careful planning, preparation and teaching of the curriculum to meet students’ individual learning needs and achieve specific student outcomes. The teacher teaches a range of student abilities and classes and is accountable for the highly effective delivery of their curriculum.
The Accounting teacher engages in critical reflection to improve their knowledge and skills to better engage students and maximise their learning.
Teaching and Assessment
- Promote a growth mindset in the classroom, that all students can and will succeed.
- Take responsibility for a class, supporting, nurturing and taking a genuine interest in the holistic development of all students in that class, knowing each of them individually as a learner.
- Use flexible groupings and structured inquiry to deliver high quality lessons that develop conceptual understanding, critical thinking skills, knowledge, collaboration and communication skills.
- Plan lessons and sequences proactively and reflectively to maximise learning opportunities for each student through appropriate differentiation.
- Use Assessment for Learning and other High Impact Teaching Strategies regularly to maximise learning.
- Select relevant resources and digital tools to support and enhance learning.
- Develop appropriate assessment tasks, providing timely and effective feedback that enhances students’ learning.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents and colleagues in a timely, professional manner.
Wider professional roles
- Maintain a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of the teaching of their subject(s), their students, curriculum and most effective research‑based pedagogies.
- Use a range of appropriate strategies for classroom management.
- Maintain a well‑organised and stimulating learning environment, with displays that reflect the students’ learning journeys, current focus areas and co‑constructed essential agreements.
- Ensure administration of classroom procedures is completed efficiently and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with members of the school community to build a team environment that supports students’ learning.
Additional responsibilities may include
- Assist in an aspect of daily school management.
- Assist middle leaders and senior leaders with specific functions.
- Fully support fellow teachers in the planning, implementation and review of teaching and learning.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- A relevant degree, professional qualification or professional degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
- A recognised teaching qualification.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ teaching experience, with a clear focus on Accounting.
- Proven experience teaching Cambridge International GCSE Accounting (or an equivalent GCSE Accounting specification).
- Strong understanding of the Cambridge International Accounting syllabus requirements, assessment objectives and examination standards.
- Ability to communicate accounting and financial concepts clearly and accurately to secondary‑aged students.
Desirable / Added Value
- Experience teaching A Level Accounting.
- Experience teaching Business Studies (IGCSE or A Level) and/or Entrepreneurship.
- Practical experience in accounting practice, finance, business operations or entrepreneurship.
- Experience teaching in an international or multicultural school environment.
- Willingness to contribute to co‑curricular activities related to accounting, finance or enterprise.
Professional Knowledge & Competencies
- Strong classroom management and lesson planning skills, with the ability to deliver structured and exam‑focused Accounting lessons.
- Creative and effective pedagogical strategies to support conceptual understanding and exam performance.
- Confident in delivering both face‑to‑face and online Accounting lessons.
- Proficient in using Apple‑based platforms and Google Workspace for Education to support teaching, assessment and feedback.
