Job summary

CACTUS is seeking Editors in the Earth and Environmental Science team on a work-from-home basis under a contractual agreement renewable on mutual consent. Work will be available regularly to maintain a predictable schedule.

You will review and edit manuscripts to enhance clarity, ensure technical accuracy, and present findings for publication readiness. The role offers global flexibility, with the ability to work from anywhere in the world.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Environmental Science or related field.
• Proven ability to critically evaluate scientific content.
• Excellent written English and meticulous attention to detail.
• Experience in scientific editing or academic publishing is a plus.

We’re currently looking for Editors in the Earth and Environmental Science team on a work-from-home basis. This would be a contractual agreement, and renewable upon mutual consent. Work will be available regularly so that you can maintain a predictable schedule.

Job Responsibilities

• Review and edit manuscripts to improve the clarity, coherence, and readability of scientific content while preserving the authors’ intended meaning.
• Ensure that subject-specific terminology, conventions, and scientific arguments are accurate, consistent, and appropriate for the target audience.
• Improve the presentation of complex research findings to enhance their communication and publication readiness.
• Edit manuscripts such that the final text meets the highest standards of academic writing, is free of unclear, illogical, or unidiomatic sentences. Adhere to job-specific guidelines and format manuscripts according to the target journal when required.

Qualifications and Prerequisites

• A Master's or PhD degree in one or more specialized subject areas listed below
• Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate scientific content and ensure discipline-specific accuracy.
• Excellent written English and attention to detail.
• Prior experience in scientific editing, peer review, or academic publishing would be an advantage.
