Job summary

A leading engineering firm in oil and gas in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Sales Engineer to support client engagement and drive sales for production enhancement and well intervention services. Candidates should have 5–8 years of relevant experience and a strong technical understanding of upstream oil and gas services such as e-line, slickline, and coiled tubing. This role requires excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to developing business opportunities within Malaysia and Southeast Asia.

Upstream Oil & Gas (Production Enhancement & Well Intervention)

This role involves actively supporting the sales team in identifying opportunities, engaging with clients, preparing technical and commercial proposals, and contributing to the overall growth strategy. The incumbent will work closely with the Senior Sales Manager/GM to drive sales for services and solutions including (but not limited to) e-line, slickline, coiled tubing, hydraulic workover (HWU), drilling‑related services, intervention, and production enhancement technologies.

The ideal candidate will have 5–8 years of sales or technical experience in the upstream oil and gas sector, with a strong understanding of well intervention and well services, and a desire to grow their career in sales and business development. A technical background is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:
Sales Strategy & Business Growth

Assist the Senior Sales Manager/GM in developing and executing sales strategies for Malaysia and South East Asia, aligned with company objectives.

Identify and research potential new business opportunities in production enhancement, well intervention, and well services.

Support the sales team in client engagement, including preparing presentations, conducting product/service demonstrations, and attending client meetings.

Contribute to achieving assigned sales targets and revenue goals.

Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to inform sales approaches.

Client Relationship Management

Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, including NOCs, IOCs, and other operators, under the guidance of the Senior Sales Manager/GM.

Act as a technical point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries and providing solutions.

Participate in industry events, conferences, and exhibitions to network and promote Ocean Vantage Engineering’s capabilities.

Technical & Commercial Proposal Preparation

Prepare comprehensive technical and commercial proposals, bids, and tender documents in response to client requirements and ITBs.

Collaborate with technical, operations, and finance teams to ensure proposals are accurate, competitive, and compliant.

Assist in the negotiation of contract terms and conditions, ensuring alignment with company policies Technical Support & Solution Development

Utilize technical knowledge in e-line, slickline, coiled tubing, HWU, drilling, intervention, and production enhancement to understand client challenges and propose appropriate solutions.

Provide technical support during project execution and post‑job reviews, working closely with operations and engineering teams.

Stay updated on industry best practices and new technologies relevant to the company's service offerings.

Reporting & Administration

Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, and pipeline status in the CRM system.

Prepare regular sales reports, forecasts, and market intelligence updates for the Senior Sales Manager/GM.

Ensure all sales activities adhere to company policies, HSE standards, and relevant regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Petroleum, Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline) or equivalent technical qualification.

Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience in the upstream oil and gas sector, with a focus on wells, production enhancement, and well intervention/well services.

Strong technical understanding of services such as e‑line, slickline, coiled tubing, HWU, drilling, intervention, and/or production enhancement.

Prior experience in a sales, technical sales, or field engineering role is highly desirable.

Good commercial awareness and understanding of the sales process.

Solid technical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.

Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills (written and verbal).

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Proactive, results‑oriented, and customer‑focused.

Proficiency in English is required; Bahasa Malaysia and/or other regional languages are an advantage.

Willingness to travel within Malaysia and occasionally to other South East Asian countries.
