Principle One Business Development Manager
Principle One is a regional specialist technology services company offering computing, networks, telecommunications, audiovisual and multimedia solutions. Since our start‑up in 2003, we have expanded across multiple sectors. We are looking for a Business Development Manager to build and drive outbound sales activities, expanding our market presence and developing new opportunities.
Detailed Description
The person in this role will often be the first face that potential clients of Principle One see. As such, you will be responsible for building interest in our company and establishing an accurate understanding of our offerings, capabilities and core values. The executive will develop both volume and gross margin for our Managed IT/AV Services and IT/AV Integration businesses, initially focusing on the financial services and boutique high‑end retail industries, with other industries identified and targeted after early success.
Responsibilities
- Develop, methodically execute and report against a written business development plan.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with referring parties, including project management companies and main contractors.
- Identify, attend and actively “work the room” at events related to our target industries.
- Promote a consistent market message about our offerings and values.
Performance Measures
- Regularly and proactively report to Directors with quantitative activity and success metrics related to building referrer relationships and event participation.
- Demonstrate the completeness and quality of sales data maintained in our CRM system.
- Meet a monthly target contribution margin of qualified leads each month.
- Meet a monthly target conversion value of leads into business together with sales and account managers.
- Work across sales, production and administration teams to achieve customer satisfaction, profit generation, and long‑term business goals in line with the company vision and values.
Other Items of Note
- This role focuses on developing new opportunities and shepherding them into won business; it does not include capture of inbound business.
- The person will be expected to stay current with news in targeted industries, competitor developments and relevant technologies.
Key Skills
- Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory.
- Excellent cross‑cultural communication skills, including formal and informal presentations, strong listening ability and proactive issue escalation.
- Self‑motivated, disciplined and able to meet deadlines under pressure.
- Ability to explain complex solutions in layperson’s terms.
Work Experience Requirements
- 5+ years of business development or sales experience.
- Experience selling technology solutions to financial clients is an advantage but not critical.
Education Requirements
- Degree level in business or a technology‑related discipline.
