Job summary

A leading manufacturing firm in Johor is seeking a Safety Officer to implement and enforce safety policies in compliance with local laws and international standards. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health & Safety and a mandatory NIOSH certification. Responsibilities include conducting safety inspections and leading training sessions to promote a safe work culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), Engineering or related field required.
  • Certified Safety & Health Officer (SHO) by NIOSH is mandatory.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of safety management experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.

Safety Officer

Implement and oversee safety policies and programs in compliance with local laws and international safety standards (OSHA, ISO 45001). Ensure a safe, healthy and risk-free environment for all employees.

Responsibilities
  • Implement and enforce the company’s EHS programs and safety policies.
  • Conduct safety inspections, audits, risk assessments and investigations.
  • Lead safety training, toolbox meetings and awareness campaigns.
  • Track and report on safety performance KPIs and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate with BOMBA, DOSH and other regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure site readiness for ISO 45001, DOE and internal/external audits.
  • Promote a strong safety culture at all levels of the organization.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), Engineering or related field.
  • Certified Safety & Health Officer (SHO) by NIOSH is mandatory.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of safety management experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA 1994, FMA 1967, ISO 45001 and DOSH regulations.
  • Proven ability to lead workplace inspections, risk assessments and accident investigations.
  • Experience conducting Emergency Response Plans, safety drills and fire safety management.
  • Excellent documentation, training and compliance reporting skills.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and sustainability reporting is a plus.
  • Able to coordinate with authorities (DOSH, BOMBA, DOE) for all statutory requirements.
