Job Purpose
The Safety Manager is responsible for driving and implementing Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) programs and initiatives to ensure a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace. This role provides leadership and guidance in promoting a proactive safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and continuously improving environmental and safety performance within the site.
Key Responsibilities

HSE Strategy & Compliance
- Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and programs aligned with local legislation and corporate standards.
- Ensure full compliance with DOSH, DOE, and other Malaysian regulatory requirements.
- Lead internal and external HSE audits and ensure timely closure of findings.

Risk Management & Prevention
- Conduct regular risk assessments, hazard analysis, and safety inspections.
- Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective and preventive measures.
- Drive incident investigations, root cause analysis, and reporting to management.

Training & Awareness
- Organize and deliver HSE training programs for employees and contractors.
- Promote awareness campaigns to strengthen safety culture and environmental responsibility.

Environmental Management
- Oversee waste management, air and water quality control, and energy conservation programs.
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting for environmental compliance.

Emergency Preparedness & Response
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans and conduct regular drills.
- Serve as site focal point for emergency response and crisis management activities.

Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Provide guidance and support to department heads and supervisors on HSE matters.
- Lead HSE committees and champion continuous improvement projects.
- Track and report key HSE performance indicators (KPIs) to management.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in HSE roles, preferably within manufacturing or FMCG environment.
- Certified Safety & Health Officer (SHO) registered with DOSH (mandatory).
- Good knowledge of Malaysian HSE laws and ISO standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Able to influence and engage teams at all levels.
