Job summary

A leading recruitment and staffing firm in Malaysia is seeking a safety officer to oversee health and safety compliance on construction sites. The ideal candidate should have at least a diploma in occupational health & safety and 6-8 years of experience, particularly with bridge or cable construction projects. Responsibilities include conducting site inspections, managing safety protocols, and promoting a culture of safety among team members. This position aims to ensure a safe working environment through detailed planning and active coordination.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6-8 years of experience in health & safety within construction.
  • Experience with bridge/cable construction projects is necessary.
  • Must be a Green book holder.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily site inspections and manage the HIRARC process.
  • Ensure compliance with national OSH legislation and maintain records.
  • Conduct safety inductions and Toolbox Talks for site personnel.
  • Investigate all accidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and test emergency response plans for the site.

About the Job
  • Leading daily physical site inspections and managing the HIRARC process to proactively eliminate dangers and ensure the correct use of PPE.
  • Strict adherence to all national OSH legislation and maintaining detailed, accurate records of all safety procedures, inspections, training, and incident reports.
  • Conducts mandatory safety induction and daily Toolbox Talks, actively promoting a positive safety culture and coordinating safety efforts among all site personnel.
  • Leading the comprehensive investigation of all accidents, incidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and implement necessary corrective actions.
  • Develops, implements, and tests site-specific emergency response plans (e.g., evacuation, rescue drills) to ensure the site is prepared for potential crises.
What you need to succeed
  • Possesses at least a diploma in occupational health & safety
  • At least 6-8 years of experience in health & safety in construction
  • Green book holder
  • Prior experience with bridge / cable construction projects
