Job description
Health and Safety Officer Responsibilities

1. Overall responsible for company Environmental, Safety & Health.

2. To establish, as well as to continuously review and implement policies and procedures on Environment, Safety and Health for the company.

3. To effectively communicate polices and procedure to all employees in order to enhance their awareness towards Environment, Safety and Health (ESH).

4. To comply with all the requirement of legislations related to ESH as stated in the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994, as well as regulations and codes of practice which have been approved.

5. To liaise with local authorities and government agencies ( i.e. DOSH, DOE, BOMBA etc. ), on statutory / legislature compliance matters concerning to ESH.

6. Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining Environment, Safety and Health programs to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and the established standards as per ISO system requirements accredited to the company.

7. Coordinate, monitor and report the performance of Environment, Safety and Health which includes :

  • 7.1 hazards & risk management
  • 7.2 incident reporting and investigation
  • 7.3 safety audit & work place inspections
  • 7.5 workplace and employees monitoring
  • 7.6 5s - Housekeeping activities

8. To conduct safety inspection and recommend corrective action for unsafe act of workers and recertification for unsafe condition in all workplace by submitting written report.

9. Monitor, comply and analyze information / data related to Environment Safety and Health issues, which are known or suspected of being real or potential detriments to health, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

10. Develop and conduct Environment, Safety & Health related training for all employees such as training session , tool box talk , employee induction and safety briefing.

11. Take pro-active measures to identify hazards, assess the risk and then implement suitable control measures to eliminate all dangers.

12. Take notice of abnormalities equipment , tools or machine and address them right away.

13. Observe the symptoms that may lead to a fire and set immediate counter measure.

14. To ensure contractors comply to the requirements of the safety which outlined in procedures.

15. To issue, provide and control Personal Protective Equipments ( PPE ) and First - Aid Kits to the employees.

16. To conduct proper Emergency Response and Preparedness Program ( ERP ) such like Chemical Spills Management and Fire Drills.

17. To conduct annual Employee Exposure Monitoring Test.

18. To conduct Environmental Monitoring Analysis i.e Dust Emission, Chemical Emission and Noise etc.

19. To be Secretary of the ESH committee as the key driver and assist the committee in implementation of a safe and healthy workplace.

20. Perform necessary corrective actions proposed by the management from time to time.

21. To submit a Monthly Safety Report to Management.

22. Perform any other tasks as assigned by superior.
