Job summary

Location: UOA Corporate Tower B, The Vertical, Avenue 10, No. 8 Jalan Kerinchi, Kuala Lumpur; Federal Territories

Responsibilities
  • Lead the preparation and review of complex journal entries such as accruals, prepayments, allocations, and payroll, ensuring they are accurate, well-supported, and compliant with accounting standards (US GAAP/IFRS).
  • Own and manage the month‑end close process for specific ledgers or business units, acting as the primary point of contact and ensuring timelines are met.
  • Perform detailed account reconciliations for high‑risk and complex balance sheet accounts (e.g., Bank, Accruals, Intercompany, Fixed Assets, etc), investigating and resolving reconciling items in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and analyze preliminary financial statements (P&L and Balance Sheet) and provide insightful variance analysis (vs. budget, vs. prior period) to management, explaining the "why" behind the numbers.
  • Support the internal and external audit processes by preparing audit schedules, responding to auditor inquiries, and providing clear and concise supporting documentation.
  • Assist in the implementation and adherence to accounting policies and internal controls (SOX compliance) within the RTR process.
  • Support intercompany accounting processes, ensuring accurate reconciliation and elimination of intercompany transactions.
  • Identify, propose, and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of the RTR cycle (e.g., automation of reconciliations, streamlining journal entry processes).
  • Demonstrate strong ownership and accountability for assigned areas, proactively addressing issues and escalating risks appropriately.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Affiliate or member of professional bodies (e.g. ACCA, CPA Australia, ICAEW, etc).
  • 4‑6 years of progressive experience in accounting, with a significant portion within a structured RTR function, shared service centre, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP or IFRS. Experience with SOX controls is highly desirable.
  • Hands‑on experience with SAP system and proficiency in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUPs, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, high attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
