Overview
The Retail & Events Coordinator is responsible for managing daily operations of the bookstore, supporting online retail platforms, and organizing or participating in events to drive book sales. This role bridges retail execution with marketing efforts, ensuring both in-store and external activities contribute to sales growth and brand engagement.
Responsibilities
1. Bookstore Operations
- Oversee daily bookstore activities including merchandising, inventory, and customer service
- Ensure the bookstore is clean, organized, and well-stocked with fast-moving titles
- Monitor stock levels and liaise with the purchasing team for restocking
- Assist with in-store promotions and point-of-sale (POS) setup
2. Online Sales & Assistance
- Manage and fulfill online orders through platforms like Grab, Shopee, Lazada, TikTok, etc.
- Ensure accurate product listings, stock updates, and promotions online
- Handle customer inquiries and provide support via messaging or online platforms
- Coordinate with logistics teams for timely delivery of online purchases
3. Events & Outreach
- Plan and organize sales events, book fairs, school events, or pop-up booths to boost exposure
- Identify potential event opportunities or collaborations with partners
- Coordinate event logistics including booth setup, inventory planning, and staffing
- Represent the brand during events and maintain a professional and engaging presence
Requirements
- Minimum SPM/STPM/Diploma in Business, Marketing, or related field
- 1–2 years experience in retail, sales, or event coordination preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Able to multitask and work independently
- Comfortable with both physical retail and digital platforms
- Willing to travel or work on weekends during events (when necessary)
