Job description
Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Resort Operations Leader to join our team and oversee the day-to-day operations of our resort located in Semporna, Sabah. As the Resort Operations leader, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of all departments while providing exceptional guest experiences. The resort also caters for various activities, including accommodation, food and beverages, water sports, snorkeling, boat transfers, island hopping, and other island resort centred activities. Prior island resort operations experience is essential.

Responsibilities
  • Reports to the Reservation and Operation Managers
  • Handling & monitoring resort daily operations
  • Exposure to island resort operations and maintenance, accommodation, water sports & recreation, snorkeling, boat transfer, food and beverages
  • Be engaged with all resort departments daily providing leadership and assistance to optimise operational efficiency
  • Responsible for practising, supporting and promoting high expectations for professionalism, hospitality and positive guest interactions
  • Supervise and direct various guest service departments focused on overnight guest operations
  • Quickly respond to and resolve guest complaints and incidents and complete all required reporting documentation
  • Lead and participate in resort security functions throughout the year including nightly security rounds, manager‑on‑duty programme and respond to any after‑hours resort needs
  • Maintain financial accuracy by collecting deposits, fees and payments, processing charges and issuing receipts
  • Supervise both administrative clerical personnel and provide constructive feedback that boosts morale and leads to increased employee retention
  • Preparing daily cash collection and credit card machine report summary for Accounts Manager
  • Preparing weekly kitchen inventory stock reports for Operations Manager
  • Collaborate & coordinate with other head department to handle guest requirements from check‑in through check‑out
  • Maintain up‑to‑date resort administrative records
  • Enforce daily team member work schedules
  • Reports facility and room maintenance problems to Operations Manager for immediate remediation
  • Welcome each new guest pleasantly, assist with reservation check‑in and identification
Qualifications
  • 18 years and above and a Malaysian citizen
  • Minimum one year experience in the hospitality industry and a Diploma or Degree in resort/hotel management, recreation watersports management or equivalent
  • Fluent in Mandarin Chinese, English and Malay (written and spoken) to effectively communicate with guests and staff
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office and Google Sheets
