Job summary

Horizontal Talent is recruiting an experienced Resident Architect for a major Data Centre project in Serendah, Selangor. The role covers on-site supervision, coordination with MEP and specialist teams, and ensuring construction aligns with drawings, specs, and standards.

The ideal candidate will have 5–10 years of architectural site experience, a degree in Architecture, and Malaysian registration (LAM/PAM). Data Centre experience is preferred in a fast-paced, mission-critical setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or equivalent.
• Registered Architect / Graduate Architect with LAM / PAM or relevant Malaysian registration.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site architectural supervision ensuring compliance with drawings, specs and contracts.
• Coordinate architectural interfaces with MEP, C&S, ELV and specialist systems.
• Attend site and technical coordination meetings and progress reviews.
• Review shop drawings, material submissions, method statements and mock-ups.
• Manage RFIs, clarifications, and architectural change requests.
• Ensure details support requirements and constructability.
• Monitor workmanship and ensure quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Conduct site inspections and raise NCRs when needed.
• Close out corrective actions in a timely manner.
• Maintain defect/punch lists and coordinate rectifications.
• Support local authority inspections and approvals.
• Prepare for Testing & Commissioning readiness.
• Ensure elements meet safety and operation requirements before handover.
• Assist with as-built drawings and O&M documentation.

About The Opportunity

Horizontal Talent is supporting a leading international multidisciplinary engineering and project consultancy in hiring an experienced Resident Architect for a major Data Centre project in Serendah, Selangor.

The Resident Architect will be responsible for architectural site supervision, coordination and quality control, ensuring that architectural works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, statutory requirements and project standards.

This role will work closely with MEP, C&S, ELV and specialist systems teams in a fast-paced, mission-critical project environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide full-time architectural supervision on site and ensure works comply with approved drawings, specifications and contract requirements.
• Coordinate architectural works and interfaces with MEP, C&S, ELV and specialist systems.
• Participate in site meetings, technical coordination meetings and project progress reviews.
• Review and provide comments on:
  • Shop drawings
  • Material submissions
  • Method statements
  • Mock-ups
• Manage RFIs, site clarifications and architectural change requests.
• Ensure architectural details support project requirements and constructability.
• Monitor workmanship and ensure compliance with project quality standards, authority requirements and industry best practices.
• Conduct site inspections and raise NCRs where required.
• Follow up on corrective actions and ensure timely closure.
• Manage architectural defect lists / punch lists and coordinate rectification works.
• Support local authority inspections and approvals, including relevant statutory requirements.
• Coordinate architectural readiness for Testing & Commissioning (T&C) activities.
• Ensure architectural elements meet operational and safety requirements prior to handover.
• Support preparation and review of as-built drawings, O&M manuals and final project documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or equivalent.
• Registered Architect / Graduate Architect with LAM / PAM or relevant Malaysian registration.
• Minimum 5–10 years of relevant architectural site experience.
• Experience in Data Centre, industrial or other mission‑critical facilities is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Architectural construction detailing
  • Building materials
  • Fire-rated systems
  • Architectural finishes
• Proven experience coordinating architectural works within MEP‑intensive environments.
• Familiarity with Fast-Track and Design & Build (D&B) project delivery.
• Strong site supervision and construction coordination experience.
• Good understanding of quality control, inspections, statutory compliance and project documentation.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Able to work under pressure and manage multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced site environment.
