The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience in regulatory compliance, strong knowledge of both local and global frameworks, and experience in the Food & Beverage sector. This role offers a dynamic environment to ensure compliance across various operations while liaising with regulatory bodies.

The Regulatory Affairs Specialist supports the Manager or Head in ensuring the company complies with all relevant laws, regulations, licenses, and permits. Keeps track of regulatory changes and advises management on their impact. Helps develop and maintain compliance processes and controls to reduce risks. Works with regulators, auditors, and internal teams to ensure timely submission of required documents.

Job Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance Management
  • Monitor, track, and interpret new regulations, policies, and government guidelines that impact the organization’s operations.
  • Ensure the company obtains, renews, and maintains all required business licenses, permits, and approvals on time.
  • Maintain a centralized compliance register and ensure it is regularly updated.
  • Coordinate responses to regulatory inspections, audits, or investigations.
  • Support the manager in developing compliance dashboards and status reports for senior management.
Risk & Control Oversight
  • Conduct compliance risk assessments across departments to identify gaps and vulnerabilities.
  • Recommend corrective actions and follow up to ensure timely closure of compliance issues.
  • Support in the development and testing of internal controls to mitigate compliance risks.
  • Escalate critical risks or potential breaches to management promptly.
Policy, SOP, and Training Support
  • Draft, review, and update internal compliance policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure policies are aligned with current regulations and best practices.
  • Deliver training, workshops, and awareness sessions for employees on compliance obligations (e.g., insurance claims process, business license submission & permit application process).
  • Provide guidance to business units on embedding compliance in their daily processes.
Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management
  • Act as liaison between the company and regulatory authorities, government agencies, and industry bodies.
  • Prepare and submit reports, applications, and regulatory filings to authorities within deadlines.
  • Support external audits and ensure all requested documentation is provided accurately and promptly.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and third parties to ensure they meet compliance requirements.
  • Engage with industry associations to stay updated on regulatory trends and participate in consultations.
Documentation, Reporting & Monitoring
  • Maintain comprehensive records of compliance activities, filings, and correspondence with regulators.
  • Prepare regular compliance status updates and reports for senior management and the Board, where applicable.
  • Track and report key compliance metrics, such as license renewal deadlines, audit results, and compliance breaches.
  • Monitor corrective actions taken in response to audit findings and regulatory reviews.
Business & Operational Support
  • Advise internal departments (Finance, HR, Operations, Procurement, etc.) on regulatory requirements affecting their activities.
  • Support Finance in ensuring compliance with taxation laws, financial reporting obligations, and statutory filings.
  • Assist Operations in meeting health, safety, and environmental compliance standards.
  • Ensure procurement processes include vendor due diligence and compliance checks.
Continuous Improvement & Best Practices
  • Benchmark organizational compliance processes against industry best practices.
  • Recommend process improvements to streamline compliance workflows and reduce regulatory risk.
  • Leverage technology (compliance monitoring tools, dashboards, automated reminders) to enhance efficiency.
  • Encourage a proactive compliance culture across the organization.
Requirements
  • At least 5 years experience in regulatory compliance roles
  • Bachelor's Degree in fields such as Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Public Policy, etc
  • Must possess knowledge of local and global regulatory frameworks
  • Experience in Food & Beverage retail compliance and franchise management are required
