A notable company in Malaysia is seeking an experienced legal executive to manage contracts and ensure compliance with legal regulations. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Law and have 3-4 years of relevant experience in an in-house legal department, particularly in the FMCG or F&B sector. Excellent communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia are essential for this role.
Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize a broad range of commercial contracts, including but not limited to sales agreements, vendor contracts, service agreements, non-disclosure agreements, IT contracts, and partnership agreements, ensuring alignment with company policies and legal requirements or ask directed by the Assistant Manager/Regional Legal Counsel.
Oversee and optimize the entire contract lifecycle management process, from initiation and drafting to negotiation, execution, renewal, and termination.
Provide support to Assistant Manager to develop and maintain contract templates and playbooks to standardize processes and improve efficiency.
Provide guidance to business units on contract terms, risks, and implications, with consultation with Assistant Manager or Regional Legal Counsel if necessary.
Conduct legal research on various issues spanning corporate law, commercial law, intellectual property, data protection (PDPA), employment law, competition law, and industry-specific regulations relevant to the company's operations in Malaysia and potentially other jurisdictions.
Assist Assistant Manager to analyze legislative changes, judicial decisions, and regulatory updates, assessing their potential impact on the company and providing concise, actionable summaries and recommendations to the legal team.
Prepare detailed legal opinions, memoranda, and presentations based on research findings.
Support the development, implementation, and enforcement of internal policies, standard operating procedures, and compliance programs (e.g., anti‑bribery and corruption, data privacy) to mitigate legal risks.
Conduct internal training/presentation to employees on legal and compliance matters.
Drive initiatives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of legal department operations, including optimizing legal technology solutions (e.g., contract management systems, e‑discovery tools).
Manage and lead specific legal projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines and objectives.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior executives or interns within the department.
