Job summary

PHARMACARE SDN BHD is seeking a Radiographer to perform high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures across multiple modalities including X-ray, CT, MRI and mammography. You will apply radiation protection principles to protect patients and staff, prepare and educate patients, and ensure accurate image acquisition for radiologists.

The role requires registration under relevant Acts, a diploma or bachelor's degree in Medical Imaging or Radiography, and flexibility to work rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• Registration under Act 304 and Allied Health Professions Act 774.
• Fresh graduates accepted; 1 year experience preferred.
• Proficient in X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy.
• Strong imaging documentation and PACS skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic imaging procedures (X-ray, CT, MRI, Fluoroscopy, Mammography, Trauma Imaging, Mobile X-ray).
• Apply radiation protection principles to protect patients, staff and self.
• Prepare and educate patients, assess safety risks, ensure comfort and compassionate care.
• Ensure accurate patient positioning and high-quality image acquisition for radiologist review.
• Operate and maintain imaging equipment, conduct daily checks, escalate issues when needed.

• Coordinate patient scheduling and assist radiologists during contrast studies.
• Update imaging records in PACS/RIS/EMR with accurate data and parameters.
• Report incidents to Head Diagnostic Imaging Services with documentation and follow-up.

General Description

The Radiographer performs high‑quality diagnostic imaging procedures and provides patient‑centred care across various modalities within the Diagnostic Imaging Services. The role includes ensuring radiation safety, maintaining equipment functionality, supporting workflow coordination, and participating in departmental quality and safety initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic imaging procedures (X‑ray, CT, MRI, Fluoroscopy, Mammography, Trauma Imaging, Mobile X‑ray) according to established protocols and clinician/radiologist requests.
• Apply radiation protection principles in accordance with Act 304, BSRP 2010, ALARA, and departmental safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and self.
• Prepare and educate patients by explaining procedures, ensuring comfort, obtaining relevant history, assessing safety risks, and providing compassionate care throughout the imaging process.
• Ensure accurate patient positioning and acquisition of high‑quality images, verifying diagnostic acceptability before submission to radiologists.
• Operate and maintain imaging equipment, performing daily checks, proper handling, minor troubleshooting, and escalating technical issues to Biomedical Engineering or vendors.
• Maintain infection control standards across imaging rooms, equipment, accessories, and patient contact surfaces in line with hospital IPC policies.
• Support service workflow by coordinating patient scheduling, assisting radiologists during contrast studies or specialised procedures, and ensuring efficient patient movement.
• Update imaging documentation and records in PACS/RIS/EMR systems, ensuring accuracy in patient data, imaging parameters, and departmental statistics.
• Report any clinical, operational, or safety‑related incidents within a stipulated time to the Head Diagnostic Imaging Services, ensuring proper documentation, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective measures.
• Provide guidance to junior radiographers and students by demonstrating proper techniques, professional conduct, and adherence to safety and clinical protocols.
• Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by immediate superior or hospital management.

Requirements

• Education: Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Medical Imaging / Radiography Field.
• Registration: Registered under Act 304 and Allied Health Professions Act 774.
• Experience: Fresh graduates accepted; 1 year experience preferred.
• Troubleshooting Equipment – quickly resolves technical issues to minimize downtime.
• Imaging Equipment Operation – proficient in X‑ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy.
• Digital Imaging & PACS – skilled in storing and retrieving images.
• Anatomy & Physiology Knowledge – accurate positioning and interpretation.
• Radiation Safety – protect patients and staff from exposure.
• Image Analysis – assess image quality and identify abnormalities.
