Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking a candidate to lead the R&D team in Malacca City, Malaysia. The role involves developing R&D strategies aligned with business goals, overseeing product and process developments, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. You will act as a liaison with global teams and partner with customers to support new product introductions. Ideal candidates have strong project management skills and a proven track record in R&D.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the R&D team to achieve department goals.
• Develop and execute R&D strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Monitor industry trends to identify new opportunities for product development.
• Oversee design and validation of new products and processes.
• Ensure successful transition of R&D projects into production.
• Drive cost optimization and quality enhancements through R&D initiatives.
• Act as the main contact with Japan HQ R&D division.
• Partner with customers to understand technical requirements and support NPI.
• Build relationships with universities and industry partners to enhance innovation.
• Plan and manage R&D budgets, resources, and timelines.
• Establish technical documentation and ensure compliance with standards.

Leadership & Strategy

• Lead, manage, and mentor the R&D team to achieve department goals and foster a culture of innovation.
• Develop and execute R&D strategies aligned with the company's business objectives and technology roadmap.
• Monitor industry trends and competitor technologies to identify new opportunities for product development.

Product & Process Development

• Oversee design, development, and validation of new products, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Ensure successful transition of R&D projects into production, collaborating closely with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams.
• Drive cost optimization, yield improvement, and quality enhancements through continuous R&D initiatives.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as the primary point of contact with Japan HQ R&D division and global research teams.
• Partner with customers to understand technical requirements, provide solutions, and support New Product Introductions (NPI).
• Build strong relationships with universities, research institutes, and industry partners to enhance innovation capability.

Project Management & Compliance

• Plan and manage R&D budgets, resources, and timelines to deliver projects on schedule and within cost targets.
• Establish and maintain technical documentation, intellectual property (IP) protection, and knowledge management systems.
• Ensure compliance with ISO standards, environmental regulations, and safety requirements in all R&D activities.
