R&D Assistant Manager / Senior Executive (Cake & Pastry)

Responsibilities
- Lead and manage food product development projects from concept to commercialization.
- Conduct research and experiments to improve existing products or develop improved/upgraded versions.
- Analyse and interpret data from experiments and trials and make recommendations based on findings.
- Stay sensitive to industry trends, regulations, and consumer preferences to guide product development strategies.
- Produce sample products for internal customers to evaluate and meet requirements/expectations.
- Coordinate commercial trials with production, QA, retail and marketing teams to ensure smooth trial runs.
- Optimize processes and formulations to enhance product quality, cost‑effectiveness, and production efficiency.
- Prepare product costings based on raw materials and manufacturing costs to ensure profitable products.
- Collaborate with suppliers on new product ideas, quality improvements, and ingredient sourcing.
- Act as a technical advisor and mentor junior food technologists and team members.
- Independently manage projects and report status to superior, undertaking assigned tasks to support R&D department’s objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or related field.
- Proven experience in food product development and food technology.
- Strong knowledge of food chemistry, sensory evaluation, and food processing techniques.
- Experience with food regulations and quality standards (e.g., KKM, Halal, GMP, MESTI).
- Good project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
- Proficiency in Mandarin is an added advantage.
