Job summary

A multinational company in the Quality sector is seeking a candidate for its Continuous Improvement role in Klang City, Malaysia. You will oversee projects that enhance Quality Management Systems and ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards. Responsibilities include facilitating communication across teams, driving continuous improvement projects, and promoting a culture of safety and quality throughout the organization. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential for this role, along with a relevant degree and experience in project management.

Job description

The candidate will act as Serac Asia focal point for Continuous Improvement program, deployed across the Group. He/she will be responsible for detecting areas of improvement related to technical development, organization, methods & tools or procedures, and for running continuous improvement projects alongside business owners along the whole value chain.

The role includes the following tasks:

  • support all Serac Asia functions to raise issues and business concerns
  • initiate and drive continuous improvement projects as business partner
  • feed global knowledge database with the project outcomes
  • contribute to the Continuous Improvement Community lifecycle with other Serac subsidiaries (attendance to portfolio reviews, process reviews and community events)
  • provide support to other Serac subsidiaries on methods and tools
Mission
  • Promote a culture of safety, compliance, and sustainability within the organization, while minimizing risks and enhancing overall performance.
  • Contribute to the definition and establishment of Serac’s unique Quality Assurance and continuous improvement management system, ensuring sustainable ISO 9001:2015 certification for Serac Asia.
  • Organize and develop long-term Quality Excellence within Serac Asia to:
  • Ensure positive customer perception of Serac’s quality.
  • Reduce business risk related to product and service non-conformance to a negligible level.
  • Lower internal non-conformance and warranty costs below the Group’s target.
  • Strengthen brand recognition in Asia.
  • Maintain ISO 9001 certification year after year.
  • Foster a positive safety and health culture and mindset.
Main Tasks
  • Serve as SMA’s Quality contact point to support its contribution to the development of the unique Quality Management Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Monitor the implementation of the QMS.
  • Facilitate communication (both within SMA and across the Group) regarding the progress and outcomes of the QMS implementation at SMA.
  • Ensure effective use of the QMS to improve customer satisfaction and reduce internal non- quality and warranty costs, with a focus on identifying and eliminating root causes.
  • Complete the establishment of a permanent and sustainable Quality Management organization.
  • Oversee and manage the ongoing operations of this Quality Management organization to continuously improve outcomes and maintain ISO 9001 certification.
  • Actively participate in the Serac Quality Network.
  • Support other Head of Department (HODs) in ensuring compliance with ISO standards and any applicable Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards.
  • Liaise and maintain positive relationship with regulatory bodies (e.g., DOSH, DOE, BOMBA) to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Ensure a safe working environment and prevent injuries and occupational illness, striving to achieve a “Zero Accident” goal.
  • Promote a culture of Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) awareness and accountability among employees. Ensure effective communication of safety, quality, and environmental matters throughout the organization.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in QHSE performance, implement enhancement initiatives, and monitor their effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement regular safety assurance programs, including workplace inspections to identify hazards and apply necessary corrective actions.
  • Conduct QHSE briefings, trainings, and inductions for employees and contractors.
  • Oversee emergency response plans and coordinate fire and flood prevention activities.
  • Serve as Secretary of the HSE Committee, carrying out all related secretarial duties.
  • Fulfill the role of Occupational Safety and Health Coordinator, coordinating workplace safety and health issues.
  • Appointed as Safety and Health Officer (SHO) under the Occupational Safety Health Act and its regulations.
  • Develop and monitor environmental strategies that promote sustainable development.
  • Oversee the company's overall environmental performance, advising on critical environmental issues that affect corporate goals and compliance.
  • Coordinate all aspects of environmental management, including pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, and environmental conservation initiatives.
Information Technology
