Job summary

TikTok Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Content Moderation Specialist to support the Search Recommendation and Trending teams. You will review and edit user-generated content, ensure data quality, and help maintain safe, engaging experiences across Arabic- and English-speaking audiences.

Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree, fluency in Arabic and English, strong editing skills (5,000–8,000 words daily), and experience with RCA or quality assurance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or above.
• Fluency in Arabic is required for interacting with local content and stakeholders based in Arabic-speaking markets, plus fluency in English as the primary working language.
• Strong text editing ability is required, edit 5,000-8,000 words daily while maintaining quality standards.
• Deep understanding of local culture, with strong familiarity with local users’ online behaviors and preferences.
• Prior QA experience in content moderation projects; familiarity with RCA methodologies is a strong plus.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure key data delivery targets are consistently met, including productivity, efficiency, quality, and latency, for projects under Search Recommendation & Trending.
• Implement, interpret, and clarify policies, guidelines, and SOPs to drive consistent understanding and improved moderation performance.
• Work closely with POC and cross-functional stakeholders in order to provide feedback on data quality, SOPs, policies, and guidelines, ensuring overall project success.
• Support training and go-live processes within the Search Recommendation team, including: Conducting follow-up explanation and calibration sessions, Creating, administering, and evaluating assessments, Providing performance feedback and managing Q&A sessions
• Analyze project metrics and generate performance and quality reports to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and develop corrective and preventive action plans to address quality or performance gaps.
• Take on additional related responsibilities as needed to support business and operational requirements

About the team

The Search Operations team is dedicated to enhancing search user experience, driving substantial DAU growth for the product, and boosting traffic as well as GMV.

Under the Search Operations team, our Recommendation & Traffic team oversees the day-to-day operation of trending events across global markets. As a content-driven platform, trends play a pivotal role in driving user engagement, consumption, and retention on TikTok. Looking ahead, our long-term vision is to establish TikTok as the go-to platform for discovering and engaging with trends, fostering a user mindset of "searching for trends on TikTok."

It is possible that this role will be exposed to harmful content as part of the core role/as part of project/in response to escalation requests/by chance. This may occur in the form of images, video, and text related to everyday life, but it can also include (but is not limited to) bullying, hate speech, child safety, depictions of harm to self and others, and harm to animals.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or above
• Fluency in Arabic is required for interacting with local content and stakeholders based in Arabic-speaking markets, plus fluency in English as the primary working language.
• Strong text editing ability is required, edit 5,000-8,000 words daily while maintaining quality standards. Prior experience as a writer or editor for media outlets or websites is preferred.
• Deep understanding of local culture, with strong familiarity with local users’ online behaviors and preferences.
• Prior QA experience in content moderation projects; familiarity with RCA methodologies is a strong plus.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of TikTok, search engines, and general familiarity with major social media platforms.
• Strong communication skills with experience in cross-team collaboration.
• Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Willing to work with sensitive issues that include child exploitation, a variety of religious and political views, violence, adult & sexual content
