A leading frozen food supplier in Malaysia is seeking an experienced procurement professional to manage supplier negotiations and logistics for frozen products. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of experience in purchasing within the seafood or FMCG sectors, strong Mandarin communication skills, and excellent organizational abilities. Manage the procurement of frozen food products from suppliers, negotiate price terms, source products, and ensure timely delivery
Coordinate the logistics of transporting frozen goods, liaising with logistics providers, and monitoring delivery schedules
Maintain accurate inventory records and forecast future purchasing needs
Identify and evaluate new suppliers to expand the product range and improve cost-efficiency
Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to align purchasing strategies with customer demand
Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards for the handling and storage of frozen goods
Plan and monitor the shipments to ensure they meet deadlines.
Follow up on the documents, customs forms for declarations, packing lists, and invoices, and maintain the necessary documents.
Handles and coordinates the logistics for import port & arrival by truck, including liaising with forwarders.
Able to communicate with overseas suppliers in Mandarin Chinese.
Minimum 2 - 5 years' experience in a purchasing or procurement role, preferably related to Seafood, Food Service, FMCG, or HORECA industry.
Strong negotiation skills with suppliers in China, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, and communication skills to liaise effectively with suppliers and logistics providers (Chinese Mandarin speaking)
Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities to manage multiple tasks and priorities
Proficient in data analysis and inventory management to optimise purchasing and distribution
Knowledge of relevant food safety and logistics regulations in the industry
Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across different departments
Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
