Department Overview

The team is responsible for managing all the projects related to delivering customer documentation for MSI products (Software, Infrastructure, Devices). The project managers and project leads hired to the team work closely with product groups and product managers to plan and coordinate the work related to delivery of product documentation within the agreed scope and timeline and within the available capacity.

Job Description

Job Scope: The Project Lead in Global Documentation is responsible for managing documentation projects for global products. This involves planning and prioritizing product documentation updates based on the needs of product teams and the capacity of the documentation team. The role also ensures the successful completion of defined development work, including the quality and timely delivery of documentation. This is achieved through continuous collaboration with key stakeholders and proactive management of risks and scope changes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cultivate and maintain strong collaborative relationships with essential project stakeholders, including product owners, information architects, and the translation team.
  • Collaborate closely with various product management groups to ascertain their specific documentation update needs for their respective products.
  • Work in parallel with information architects and the translation team to accurately estimate the scope of requested tasks.
  • Validate the requested scope against the documentation team's capacity, timeline, and other development costs to construct and prioritize the backlog effectively, descaling requests when necessary.
  • Proactively communicate project status, potential risks, and identified issues to key stakeholders to mitigate any impediments for successful documentation project delivery.
  • Efficiently manage project data and the backlog using designated work management tools.
  • Conduct scrum ceremonies and meetings to update the team of writers on product features, monitor progress, and address issues.
  • Adjust product backlog priorities as product needs evolve.
  • Ensure the consistent high quality of delivered documentation by implementing appropriate development processes and continuously analyze collected data to foster an improved working environment.
Basic Requirements

Motorola Product Knowledge: A high-level, non-engineering understanding of Motorola Solutions products and systems, including their features, functions, and applicability, is beneficial for effective communication with documentation architects. While prior experience or knowledge is a plus, the ability to quickly acquire such knowledge is essential.

  • At least 1.5 years of project management experience is required, with a preference for Agile project methodologies.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in technical documentation design/development is preferred.
  • BSc Computer Science or English Language Degree
  • Experience with work management tools
  • Experience with Google Apps for Work
  • Interest in new technologies (AI/ML) & tools and willingness to learn constantly
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage projects.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Strong communication skills, including negotiation, feedback, and clear articulation of ideas.
  • A good understanding of both Agile and Waterfall project management principles
