Job summary

A leading automation solutions provider in Shah Alam seeks an engineer responsible for executing and completing industrial automation and digitalization projects. You will manage project specifications, liaise with stakeholders, control project costs, and perform on-site testing and servicing. The ideal candidate should have a degree in Electrical/Electronics or Mechatronic Engineering, strong knowledge in PLC, SCADA, and IT/OT cybersecurity, and be willing to travel. Excellent communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English are required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of industrial automation and control systems is essential.
• Must possess problem-solving skills and be able to work under pressure.

Job description

Overview

You will be responsible for executing and completing a range of industrial automation, control system, and digitalization projects, as well as providing after-sales support, all under the supervision and guidance of a senior engineer or/and project manager.

Responsibilities

• Study project specifications to understand customer requirements.
• Liaise with customers, vendors, and principals to address technical and commercial issues.
• Maintain project schedules by monitoring progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.
• Procure project materials, equipment, and manpower on a timely basis.
• Control project costs to minimize non-conformance expenses.
• Develop engineering and software designs based on project specifications and generate all associated documentation.
• Perform in-house testing and Factory Acceptance Test (FAT).
• Site deployment and installation, and system testing and commissioning.
• Perform on-site troubleshooting, servicing, and repairs of systems, equipment, and installations.
• Other duties as assigned from time to time.

Education & Experience

Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or other relevant discipline.

Skills/Knowledge & Requirements

• Knowledge in PLCs, SCADA/HMI, DCS, and industrial networks and control system design.
• Experience with industrial digitalization projects: IIoT platforms, MES, data historians, data management applications (i.e. MDM, LIMS, etc.) , IT/OT cybersecurity, and cloud-based analytics and solutions.
• Demonstrates a willingness to learn new knowledge and the ability to acquire new skills as needed.
• Demonstrates the ability to resolve issues efficiently, with strong problem-solving skills that include anticipating, identifying, and addressing challenges independently.
• Given the project-driven nature of the role, candidates must be capable of working under high pressure and willing to work irregular hours when necessary.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for meeting and reports writing.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (onshore and offshore).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Required language(s): Bahasa Malaysia, English.
