Job summary

Flintex Consulting Pte Ltd in Malaysia is seeking a Project Engineer to develop and review technical proposals, quotations, and piping system designs. You will oversee fabrication project execution through drawings reviews and feasibility assessments, coordinating with global teams to ensure efficient delivery.

The role emphasizes piping solution proposals, cost estimates, and strong collaboration with internal departments to meet project requirements.

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical or chemical engineering.
• 1–2 years piping system experience; total 3–5 years professional experience.
• Strong knowledge of fluid dynamics (flow rate, pressure loss).
• Proficient reading drawings and extracting BQ from drawings.
• Navisworks/AutoCAD/Revit/Plant 3D proficiency is preferred.
• Able to liaise with solutions team for engineering challenges.
• Able to work under tight schedules and be detail-oriented.
• Experience in HVAC/Cooling, Microelectronics, Water Treatment, or Data Centre applications is an advantage.
• Willingness to learn and work as a team.

Responsibilities

• Propose piping solutions based on chemical compatibility, sizing, flow, pressure, and budget.
• Coordinate with solutions team for pipe stress analysis, bracketing, and supports.
• Perform material take-offs and project costing from drawings.
• Communicate piping requirements and expectations with customers.
• Present piping proposals with engineering data, calculations and comparisons.
• Collaborate with prefab team on CAD drawings with strong value propositions.
• Interpret engineering drawings (plans, P&ID, isometrics) and assess feasibility.
• Ensure proposals meet local authority approvals where applicable.
• Assist in design reviews and customer enquiries.

Job Description

Position Summary

Responsible for developing and reviewing technical proposals, quotations, and mechanical pipework system designs, including engineering calculations and solution validation. Oversees fabrication project execution through drawing reviews and feasibility assessments, while providing pre- and post-sales engineering support. Collaborates with global engineering teams to ensure efficient project delivery, including detailed engineering and pipe stress analysis.

As a project engineer, your main tasks are:

• Able to propose to customer the right Company’s piping solution for the right application (chemical compatibility, pipe sizing, flow rate, pressure rating, jointing requirement) within the customer budget expectation
• Liaise with specialize solutions team to provide engineering solutions to customer ie pipe stress analysis, bracketing and supports, buckling factors
• Able to perform material selection, material take-offs & project costing upon receiving digital or printed drawing
• Communicate with customer on the piping requirements and their expectation
• Perform technical clarifications with customers including drawing review & fabrication feasibilities -present to customer the piping proposal complete with engineering data, calculations & comparisons
• Work closely with prefab team to execute commercial and CAD drawing proposal with strong value proposition to customers
• Strong ability to analyse existing piping design strength and weaknesses, and the value proposition if converted to Company’s materials -able to understand and apply the piping design knowledge based on major application that company is primarily active in :- HVAC/Cooling, ME, Marine, Data Centre
• To communicate with various internal departments (procurement, finance, warehouse, sales team etc.) to facilitate project related works.
• Able to interpret engineering drawings (plan layouts, P&ID, piping isometrics etc.)
• To perform design review/ consultation on customer enquiry.
• To ensure piping proposal meet local authority requirement and no issue with obtaining installation approvals, if applicable

Requirements

1. Degree holder in mechanical/chemical or related engineering field. At least 1-2 years working experience in piping system, 3-5 years professional experience overall

2. Strong knowledge in fluid dynamic and its basic concepts (flow rate,pressure loss,friction loss,pipe stress)

3. Prior knowledge in piping application is an advantage

4. Able to read drawing & extract BQ from drawing

5. Proficient in Naviswork, AutoCAD 2D/3D. Ability to model in Revit and Plant 3D would be an added advantage

6. Willing to continuously learn and improve, and work as a team player

7. Able to perform and complete task within tight schedule

8. Organize and detail oriented

9. Prior experience in HVAC/Cooling, Microelectronics, Water Treatment, Data Centre application would be an advantage
