The Project Engineer/Planner is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing automation or engineering projects from concept to completion. This role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. It involves technical support, scheduling, resource allocation, and close collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Scheduling
- Develop detailed project schedules, timelines, and milestones using tools like MS Project or Primavera.
- Allocate resources and monitor progress to ensure adherence to deadlines.
Engineering Support
- Review technical drawings, specifications, and BOMs for accuracy.
- Provide engineering input during design reviews and resolve technical issues during execution.
Coordination & Communication
- Act as the liaison between engineering, procurement, assembly, and client teams.
- Conduct regular project meetings and prepare status reports.
Cost & Risk Management
- Monitor project budgets and control costs.
- Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including schedules, reports, and change orders.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.
Requirements:
- At least 2 years of experience in automation engineering, assembly systems, or project engineering.
- Experience in sheet metal fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial automation is highly preferred.
- Hands‑on experience in automation equipment design and assembly integration.
Skills:
- Have knowledge in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or equivalent).
- Knowledge of automation components (robotics, PLCs, sensors, pneumatic/hydraulic systems).
- Understanding of manufacturing processes: sheet metal, welding, assembly, finishing.
- Familiar with DFMEA, PFMEA, risk assessment, and machine safety standards.
- Basic knowledge of PLC logic and automation controls is an advantage.
- Good project management and coordination skills.
- Good problem‑solving and analytical ability.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management.
- Able to work independently and in cross‑functional teams.
- Willing to support on‑site installation, commissioning, and factory trials.
- Able to work under tight timelines and manage multiple projects.
- Knowledge of Malaysia safety regulations and ISO standards is an advantage.
