The Project Director will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale SAP and IT transformation projects across the organization. This role is responsible for translating business requirements into effective SAP solutions, managing vendors and stakeholders, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. The Project Director will oversee system configuration, testing, change management, and user training to ensure the successful implementation and adoption of the system, while driving continuous improvement and alignment with business objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Communicate business requirements from respective workstreams and business units to the SAP vendor, ensuring clear and accurate transmission of information.
Review SAP configuration and customization details provided by the vendor to confirm they accurately reflect the requirements and expectations of the business units.
Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, provide technical guidance, and propose optimal SAP solutions that align with business objectives.
Ensure the timely implementation of SAP modules and integrations to meet specific business needs and enhance operational efficiency.
Coordinate comprehensive testing and validation of SAP configurations and customizations to ensure functionality and performance meet established requirements.
Ensure that all procedural documentation is prepared, reviewed, and updated promptly throughout the project lifecycle to support successful system implementation and ongoing maintenance.
Develop training materials and deliver training sessions to business users on SAP functionalities, best practices, and system updates to ensure effective utilization of SAP solutions.
Stay informed about SAP advancements, best practices, and industry trends to recommend and implement improvements in SAP solutions and processes.
Plan and manage IT projects and initiatives from end to end, including budgeting, approvals, vendor evaluation, implementation, and post-implementation support.
Plan and manage overall project scope, timeline, budget, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.
Define project scope, objectives, milestones, and deliverables in alignment with business goals.
Identify, monitor, manage, and resolve project risks and issues to ensure each initiative is delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
Engage stakeholders proactively to address issues and explore potential resolutions.
Manage day-to-day project management activities and ensure effective coordination across teams.
Provide progress updates and status reports, including managing internal and external interdependencies.
Plan and manage project working committee meetings to facilitate collaboration and decision-making.
Provide regular updates to the Project Steering Committee, IT Steering Committee (ITSC), and Board meetings.
Oversee issue and risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
Implement and manage change when necessary to ensure project outputs are achieved.
Conduct workshops with vendors and internal teams during the discovery phase to identify gaps in current processes.
Interact with vendors daily during the deployment phase to plan and align with TPM’s project timelines and expectations.
Raise red flags to management immediately for items on the critical path, without waiting for formal meetings.
Upon project completion, conduct post-implementation reviews and share lessons learned to support continuous improvement.
Requirements
Education & Certification
Bachelor's in IT, Computer Science, Business, or related field (master’s preferred).
PMP / PRINCE2 certified; SAP certification is an advantage.
Experience
10+ years in IT project management, including 5+ years leading large SAP implementations or enterprise system projects.
Proven track record managing full project lifecycle — planning, budgeting, vendor coordination, and post-implementation.
Experience working with cross-functional teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors.
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of SAP modules and integrations
Familiar with SAP methodologies and system testing, migration, and change management.
Good knowledge of IT governance, risk, and compliance processes.
Leadership & Soft Skills
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Able to manage risks, timelines, and resources effectively.
Experience in user training, documentation, and driving change adoption.
Other Desirable Qualities
Experience with large organizations or public sector projects.
