Job description

Our client is a well‑established industrial manufacturing firm, publicly listed and specializing in the high‑precision production of specialized steel tubing and industrial components for the automotive and heavy machinery sectors. They are actively expanding their market presence and require a committed leader to drive efficiency within their core production facility.

Aim of the Job

To be the primary owner of daily production execution, responsible for optimizing the efficiency and productivity of the precision tube mill line. This role requires minimizing downtime, controlling operational costs, ensuring rigorous quality compliance (ISO 9001), and providing direct oversight and training to the production workforce.

Key Responsibilities & Activities
1. Production Optimization and Uptime (Growth Focus)
  • Efficiency Leadership: Responsible for achieving optimal efficiency and maximizing productivity of the mill machinery.
  • Proactive Maintenance Coordination: Work closely with the maintenance team to schedule and follow up on preventive maintenance actions to proactively reduce unexpected breakdowns.
  • Downtime Management: Coordinate immediately with the maintenance team to restore machinery during breakdowns to ensure production stoppage is minimized.
  • Resource Planning: Coordinate with the planning department to organize manpower, tooling, and materials in advance to meet production schedules and customer delivery dates.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive operational improvements (Kaizen methodology) focused on reducing set‑up time, minimizing speed loss, and enhancing quality adjustments across the production process.
  • Data Integrity: Ensure production leaders and supervisors accurately record input and output data for performance analysis.
2. Cost Management and Control
  • Expenditure Monitoring: Rigorously monitor and control the consumption of direct consumables, managing stock keeping and timely replenishment to prevent shortages.
  • Overtime Authorization: Monitor and control overtime costs by reviewing and approving overtime requests prior to job execution.
  • Cost Projections: Prepare monthly proforma cost reports based on machine capacity, labor costs, and direct consumable usage for budget planning.
3. Quality Assurance and Yield
  • Product Quality: Ensure all manufactured products consistently meet internal quality standards and specific customer requirements.
  • System Compliance: Establish, maintain, and execute Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), and forms in full compliance with the Quality Management System (ISO 9001).
  • Yield Improvement: Closely monitor and control mill yield loss and lead improvement actions (Kaizen methodology) to reduce waste.
  • Issue Resolution: Collaborate closely with the Quality Assurance department on customer complaints and implement required corrective improvement actions.
4. People and Safety Management
  • Team Adherence: Ensure all production staff, line leaders, and supervisors strictly adhere to Safety Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Safety & Training: Actively ensure worker safety, manage PPE requirements, conduct regular safety awareness briefings, and review safety assessments (HIRADC) with the Safety Officer.
  • Team Administration: Monitor and control worker attendance, leave, and lateness records.
  • Development: Provide necessary on‑the‑job training and briefing sessions to workers to enhance their skills and ensure procedural compliance.
