Job summary

Flex is seeking a Production Planning Manager in Prai, Penang to coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within and between departments according to the production schedule, ensuring alignment with company goals.

You will develop production forecasts, adjust plans for demand changes, lead master scheduling, material planning, and shop dispatch, and partner with operations, purchasing and customers to resolve issues and optimize inventory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive responsibility in production control/planning, including supervision.
• Demonstrates basic people and/or process management skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage production forecast based on master plan, timelines, material needs to define production requirements.
• Adjust plans as necessary to accommodate changes in demand and communicate updates.
• Produces revenue investigations and annual operating (AOP) plans and other forecast reports.
• Conducts studies related to new products or processes to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
• Report production status and issues to upper management.
• Interface with operations to resolve daily production disruptions and productivity issues.
• Develops and implements production control functions including Master Scheduling, Production Planning/Coordination, Shop Scheduling, and Dispatching.
• Develops material planning models to ensure proper material planning and optimal inventory for customer programs.
• Approves quantities, schedules and parts lists for timely ordering, receipt and issuance of production materials.
• Maintains reports reflecting scheduling, methods, and procedures.
• Interfacing with customers to ensure delivery commitments; coordinating with purchasing to optimize material deliveries.
• Notifies Materials and Program Management of material situations affecting the production plan.

Coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within or between departments of an establishment according to production schedule.

What a typical day looks like:

• Develop and manage production forecast based on master plan, timelines, material needs in order to define production requirements based on plant capacity, which are aligned with company goals.
• Adjust plans as necessary to accommodate changes in demand, communicating updates to all relevant parties and ensure material supplies able to meet the changes
• Produces revenue investigation and annual operating (AOP) plan and other forecast reports.
• Conducts special studies, investigations relating to the introduction of new products or processes to effect cost reduction and gives in improvements.
• Reporting on the production status and any production issues to upper management
• Liaise with operation team to resolved daily production line disruption and productivity issues.
• In charge of the development and implementation of the company’s production control functions including Master Scheduling, Production Planning/Coordination, Shop Scheduling, and Dispatching.
• Develops material planning models to ensure proper material planning and optimal inventory positions for customer programs. Utilizes models for defining material planning parameters for components.
• Approves quantities, schedules and parts list provided to the material control organization to ensure timely and complete ordering, receipt and issuance of production material requirements.
• Maintains reports to reflect scheduling, methods, hold up performance and process procedures.
• Interfaces with customers to ensure delivery dedications are met and with subordinates, functional peer group managers and senior management.
• Interfaces with purchasing to expedite problem parts and to reschedule material deliveries that will result in excess inventory.
• Notifies Materials and Program Management of material situation that affect the attainment of the production plan.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• Requires minimum of 8 years progressive responsibility in production control and planning or related area, including supervision.
• Demonstrates basic people and/or process management skills.
