Product Quality Engineer
Astar has partnered with a well-respected company on the hunt for their next Product Quality Engineer. This company is transmission and propulsion systems for automotive OEM’s and mobility providers globally.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor/master’s degree in mechanical engineering, automation, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years in a process engineering position within an assembly plant, with knowledge of quality control tools.
- Strong knowledge of IATF16949 and ISO9001 and related quality tools (APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC, FMEA).
- Demonstrated success in driving continuous improvement initiatives using LEAN, KAIZEN, and Six Sigma methodologies to significantly enhance process efficiency, reduce operational costs, and elevate product quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, plan, organize, control, and maintain product quality to meet scheduled volumes while minimizing production costs and energy consumption.
- Coordinate and organize technical analyses to continuously improve product quality.
- Conduct layered process audits and product audits to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Perform reject analysis and follow up on internal 8D reports to identify and resolve quality issues.
- Prepare and update working instructions and technical documents.
- Generate weekly and monthly reports on quality metrics and improvement initiatives.
- Arrange trials for new projects, materials, and designs, and evaluate the engineering change process.
- Follow up on new product and project developments, ensuring compliance with APQP and PPAP requirements.
- Work closely with the Customer Quality Engineer (CQE) to analyze customer PPM and address quality concerns.
- Build and maintain quality systems to meet IATF16949 and ISO9001 standards and ensure compliance with ISO14001 and ISO45001 standards.
- Carry out other tasks as assigned by the Operation Manager.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Proficient understanding of the IATF16949 system and its application in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in handling internal and external nonconformities independently.
- Proficient in using quality management software and tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot process issues.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Malay, both written and verbal.
- Leadership skills to organize quality training and meetings and motivate teams effectively.
- Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience or affinity in automotive gearbox systems or similar components.
