A construction procurement firm in Kuala Lumpur seeks an experienced procurement professional to source and manage materials and suppliers. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years in procurement within the construction industry, strong negotiation skills, and proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets. Familiarity with Mandarin is an advantage due to supplier engagement. This position involves managing Purchase Orders, stock levels, and supplier relationships, ensuring compliance with company standards.
Source, evaluate, compare, and negotiate with suppliers for construction materials, equipment.
Prepare, issue, and follow up on Purchase Orders (PO), and delivery schedules.
Managing the RFQ to ensure timely and cost-effective goods and service.
Coordinate closely with project managers, site supervisors, and QS team to meet project material requirements on time.
Monitor and maintain stock levels; arrange timely replenishment for site materials and consumables.
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliability and competitive pricing.
Conduct supplier performance reviews and resolve delivery, quality, or service-related issues.
Ensure all procurement documentation (PO, DO, quotations, invoices) is accurate and complies with company SOP and audit requirements.
Track material delivery progress and handle any shortages, late deliveries, or discrepancies with suppliers and site teams.
Prepare cost comparison sheets and support cost-saving initiatives without compromising material quality.
Assist in price checking, and providing material cost data for tenders or new project proposals.
Coordinate with the accounts department to verify invoices and related documents and ensure timely payment processing.
Maintain an updated vendor list, material price list, and procurement records.
Support ISO or internal audit requirements related to procurement processes (if applicable).
Minimum 2–3 years of procurement experience, preferably in the construction industry.
Strong understanding of construction materials, tools, services
Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills / PO system and good attention to detail
Good negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills.
Strong sense of responsibility, urgency, and time management.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Able to read and speak in Mandarin will be added advantages (as this role requires engaging with Mandarin-speaking suppliers).
