Job summary

Coherent Corp. Malaysia is seeking a process engineering professional to establish process capability and a capacity model aimed at yield improvement. You will plan and drive improvement projects, analyze failures, and support training to boost operator productivity in a 100% onsite manufacturing setting.

With 2+ years in mass production, you will apply SPC/MES tools and data analysis to reduce scrap and drive efficiency. Experience in fiber-optic transceiver environments is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master in Electronics/Electrical/Photonics/Mechanical/Mechatronics, Engineering or CS.
• Minimum 2 years in mass production; fiber optic transceiver experience is a plus.
• Strong data analytics and hands-on working attitude.
• Knowledge of SPC, MES and Oracle is preferred.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Establish the process capability and the capacity/productivity model for yield improvement.
• Plan and execute the process improvement projects in line with business metrics.
• Analyze testing failures, process deviations, defects, and yield losses.
• Improving rework success rates and controlling scrap costs.
• Enhance alignment process engineering capacity to achieve higher yield.
• Responsible to establish and implement all appropriate actions to improve the yields.
• Responsible to conduct gage repeatability & reliability studies, correlation studies as well as actions to improve both these capabilities. Generate reaction plans for out-of-control situations.
• Assist the manufacturing personnel in operator training, qualification and improving operator utilization and productivity as well as inventory reduction.
• Communication skill to communicate and interface well with peers, enhance teamwork.
• Derive Continual Improvement and use of resources.
• Compliance to ISO Requirements, company rules & regulations, applicable codes etc.
• To participate in new product transfer (NPI) program to ensure smooth transitions from R&D to manufacturing phase.
• To fully understand the necessary controls, equipment, precautions, setup parameters to meet the product specification.
• To participate in Lean Manufacturing projects and cost reduction projects.
• Practice Risk Base Thinking in planning and execution of task.
• Performing any other duties as directed by the immediate superior from time to time.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor or Master of Science/ Engineering preferably majoring in Electronics/Electrical, Photonics, Mechanical/ Mechatronics, Engineering or Computer Science.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in related industry and in mass production environment. Experience working in a fiber optic transceiver manufacturing environment will be an added advantage.
• Good computer literacy especially in SPC, MES, Oracle related applications.
• Must exhibit a strong sense of data analytical skills with hands on working attitude.
• Adaptable and flexible to rapid changes to the business needs of the company.
• Good knowledge of mechanical dimensioning & tolerancing analysis, poka-yoke principles will be an added advantage.

• Possess strong interpersonal skills and enjoy the process of problem-solving.
• Knowledge of SPC, statistical analysis, process control, and data management with hands on working attitude.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Experience on New Product (NPI) qualifications and transfer is an advantage.
