Job description
About the Role

Turn threat/problem information into clear, actionable intelligence for frontline teams. You’ll analyse patrol data, sensor feeds, interviews and open sources, then ship maps, heat maps, and concise briefs that guide patrol tasking, risk mitigation, and management decisions.

What You’ll Be Doing

Run problem/threat analyses (poaching routes, access points, illegal extraction, conflict).

Produce weekly risk briefs and monthly threat bulletins; capture lessons in post-op notes.

Maintain clean data flows for SMART patrol data, sensors, interviews, and OSINT.

Prepare map packs for briefings; help run debriefs with clear actions/owners.

Track effectiveness of interventions (before/after indicators) and recommend adjustments.

Collaborate with the Wildlife Analyst to align protection with wildlife evidence.

Liaise professionally with partner agencies/NGOs; keep audit-ready evidence folders.

What We’re Looking For (Requirements)

Bachelor’s/Master’s in Criminology, Psychology, Conservation/Environmental Science, Social Science, Data/GIS (or related).

2–3+ years relevant analytical experience (crime/problem analysis or protection analytics).

Working knowledge of GIS (QGIS/ArcGIS), Excel; SMART workflows. (Basic R/Python a plus.)

Strong critical thinking and the ability to turn data into clear recommendations.

Field-ready for occasional deployments; disciplined documentation and partner comms.

Bahasa Malaysia required; workable English.

Preferred (Nice to Have)

Experience integrating SMART patrol and wildlife datasets.

Exposure to problem-oriented analysis, hotspot/route mapping, or intervention M&E.

Familiarity with sensor workflows (camera/acoustic) and simple QA checks.

Prior work with government/NGO/university partners.

Why You Should Apply

Turn intel into action: your analyses directly shape patrol routes and risk mitigation—real impact, fast.

Own the problem lens: work across SMART, sensors, interviews, and OSINT for a full risk picture.

Level up your craft: problem-oriented analysis, hotspot/route mapping, intervention M&E, crisp briefs—mentored by the DSS Lead.

Ship products that get used: maps/heat maps/advisories managers rely on weekly.

Growth path: structured training and stretch assignments toward Senior Problem Analyst / DSS Specialist.

What We Offer

Competitive salary, medical benefits, annual leave & public holidays.

Training & development (SMART, GIS, analysis, brief writing).

Supportive, mission-driven team and strong operational backing.

Location

Base: Jerantut, Pahang (DSS office, ASARTR Operations)

Fieldwork: Rotational deployments to Mat Daling / Pasir Raja (as scheduled)
