Job summary

GlobalFoundries is seeking a Principal Analyst Tax & Subsidies to lead tax and subsidy strategies, support direct tax compliance, tax accounting, and financial analysis across APAC. You will prepare filings, manage audits, and develop plans to optimize tax posture while ensuring regulatory compliance and documenting subsidies.

The role requires 5–7 years of direct tax experience, a relevant degree, and professional credentials such as ACCA/CPA; strong stakeholder management is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related discipline.
  • Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CA, ICAEW, or equivalent is preferred.
  • 5-7 years of relevant tax experience.
  • APAC tax experience is preferred.
  • Experience in tax compliance, tax filing, tax reporting, and government audit support.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and/or execute tax and subsidy strategy for the organization.
  • Prepare and maintain tax records, returns, reports, and other related documentation.
  • Responsible for compliance documentation, filing, and government audits related to federal, state, and local tax filings.
  • Support tax accounting activities with strong direct tax experience, preferably with APAC exposure.
  • Recommend alternative tax treatments to alleviate or reduce tax burden in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Perform financial activities including developing, reviewing, and evaluating financial plans and policies.
  • Perform both financial planning analysis and tax functions within the organization.
  • Design, develop, and implement tax strategies to support business objectives.
  • Devise legal means to minimize tax liability using strong knowledge of tax laws and regulations.
  • Work with government affairs and relevant stakeholders to support advocacy and the design of favorable tax and subsidy legislative policies.
  • Responsible for compliance documentation, filing, and government audits related to subsidies.
  • Partner with internal finance, legal, government affairs, and business teams on tax and subsidy-related matters.
  • Support tax audits, government inquiries, and regulatory reviews.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws, regulations, and subsidy programs and assess business impact.
  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
  • Work and collaborate on other projects and/or assignments as needed.

Introduction

The Principal Analyst Tax & Subsidies will manage and/or execute tax and subsidy strategies for GlobalFoundries. This role is responsible for supporting direct tax compliance, tax accounting, tax planning, financial analysis, government audit requirements, and subsidy-related documentation. The candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders, external advisors, auditors, and government authorities to ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations, while supporting tax-efficient business strategies and subsidy opportunities.

  • Provide guidance and support on direct tax matters, tax accounting, and subsidy-related activities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of tax filings, reports, and supporting schedules.
  • Support cross-functional projects involving tax, finance, subsidies, and government incentives.
  • Maintain proper documentation to support audit readiness and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify tax optimization and subsidy opportunities.
  • Support process improvement initiatives within tax and subsidy operations.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related discipline.
  • Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CA, ICAEW, or equivalent is preferred.
  • 5-7 years of relevant tax experience.
  • Strong background in direct tax and tax accounting.
  • APAC tax experience is preferred.
  • Experience in tax compliance, tax filing, tax reporting, and government audit support.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Experience in financial planning, financial analysis, and tax-related financial activities.
  • Experience with subsidies, government incentives, or government compliance documentation will be an added advantage.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Able to work independently and collaborate effectively across functions.
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a multinational company or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting tax and subsidy matters across multiple APAC countries.
  • Exposure to government affairs, incentives, grants, or subsidy programs.
  • Strong understanding of corporate tax compliance and tax planning.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with cross-functional stakeholders.
