Job description
Press Maintenance Senior Technician / Engineer

Senior Technician / Maintenance engineers work in multi-disciplinary teams, which include production personnel, manufacturing engineers, design engineers and other technical professionals, to ensure uninterrupted, efficient and quality-driven production or plant operations. The role connects field operations with the maintenance organization, is responsible for minimizing machine downtime and failure rates, and maximizing equipment productivity. They also undertake scheduled and breakdown maintenance of production equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Keeping production managers/supervisors informed of machine progress/condition.
  • Ensuring that press room machines perform effectively.
  • Monitoring infeed and delivery systems, impression cylinders, blanket cylinders, dampening system, ink distribution system, paper guiding mechanisms, feeder table, delivery table, and various sensors for monitoring and control.
  • Conducting and performing schedule for machine preventive maintenance, arranging, planning, scheduling, and implementing preventive maintenance.
  • Monitoring chiller unit control systems and their working condition.
  • Maintaining a tracking log for each UV lamp, recording cumulative operating hours and pre-planning replacements based on recorded hours and intensity levels.
  • Coordinating for re-rubberizing ink unit rubber rollers.
  • Updating the wear and tear and critical part list and providing forecasts.
  • Supporting preventive and corrective maintenance measures with the production team.
  • Controlling ISO documents and providing weekly and monthly maintenance reports.
  • Verifying daily preventive maintenance checklists for press room machines.
  • Responding immediately to machine breakdowns and dealing with emergencies, unplanned problems, and repairs.
  • Liaising with suppliers and vendors for machine servicing & purchasing tooling, jig, fixture, and spare parts. Any other task assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Coordinating with Planning and Production teams to achieve one-time delivery.
  • Coordinating with the QA department in quality and monitoring machine yield.
  • Coordinating with the Automation Team and Machine Development Team in upgrading and improving machine performance and new machines.
  • Coordinating with Industrial or Process Engineers in line upgrade and improvement activities.
  • Ensuring all activities are performed in a manner that does not create unnecessary environmental impacts.
  • Complying with all environmental control procedures.
  • Reporting or providing feedback on environmental incidents or needed improvements.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
  • Degree holder in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical and Electronics).
  • Practitioner on continuous improvement techniques such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, Poka-yoke.
  • 3‑5 years of working experience in engineering, operation, or manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with press room machines – offset printing and screen‑printing machines.
  • Good knowledge of PLCs.
  • Familiar with preventive maintenance on mechanical, pneumatic and electronic components.
Language Skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical journals, specifications, and international technical standards.
  • Must have basic mathematical skills (additions, subtractions, etc.).
Computer Skills

Proficient in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Familiar with operating systems such as Windows. Ability to work well under pressure; relevant technical knowledge and problem‑solving skills; efficiency and organization; teamwork skills and good leadership.

Field‑Specific Knowledge
  • Offset and screen‑printing machine technology: understanding of the inner workings of offset printing machines and different types of sheet feeder components.
  • Mechanical systems: knowledge of motors, gears, rollers, and cylinders used in offset and screen‑printing machines.
  • Electrical systems: familiarity with the wiring, sensors, and PLCs that control machine operations.
  • Problem‑solving mindset: proactively identifying potential issues and devising effective solutions.
  • Strong communication skills: clearly explaining complex technical issues to operators, managers, and other team members.
  • Strong work ethic: dedication to maintaining machines at the highest standards and ensuring minimal disruption to production schedules.
Work Requirements

Compliance with all relevant HID Global policies and procedures related to Quality, Security, Safety, Business Continuity, and Environmental systems.

Travel and fieldwork may include international travel; therefore, the employee must possess or be able to acquire a valid passport.
