AVP/VP, Investment Services and Business Management - Multi-Strategies

Investment Services Private Market

The Investment Services Private Market (ISPVM) Department provides strategic investment services and financial management for the Private Markets within the GIC group. Leveraging data and emerging technologies, the department oversees the development and implementation of business infrastructural plans and operating models to scale GIC's alternative asset investments globally. This covers deal structuring, due diligence and closing, financial operations across GIC's assets, as well as tax structuring, corporate holding structures, valuations, and financial reporting.

Investment Services and Business Management Multi-Strategies

We are looking for a suitable candidate to join the Investment Services and Business Management Multi-Strategies team. The Business Manager will be responsible for developing the strategic business and operational solutions for the private markets Infrastructure and Integrated Strategies Group, while ensuring smooth running of the day-to-day operations including analytical, business and platform supports.

The successful candidate will support the department in delivering sustainable top quartile performance. Be the voice and go-to person for the business and the internal stakeholders, representing business needs. They are required to interact with people at all levels across the firm. He/She will also work closely with teams across 11 GIC locations, as well as counterparties and service providers across the globe.

What will you do as a Business Manager?

Strategy, Process, Platform, Change Management

  • Understand the strategic agenda and priorities of the business. Develop and implement business operating models, programs, processes, and tools to drive synergies and strategic outcomes; supporting business growth and enabling greater scalability in investment support.
  • Partner across GIC functional teams to drive operational excellence, investment process digitalization, optimization, and documentation.
  • Catalyst to drive business requirements and work with GIC technology teams for native private markets platform development and dashboarding capabilities.
  • Collaborate across investment departments for best practice leveraging and to drive execution of cross-departmental initiatives.
  • Support data consistency and accuracy in the systems.

Business and Risk Management

  • Oversee and coordinate process, governance, control review and audit activities, including remediations.
  • Drive policies review and operationalization including day-to-day control checks. Address business needs while safeguarding investment groups’ and GIC’s interests.
  • Oversee and execute a range of ad hoc and recurring asset servicing and reporting activities and control checks through digitized workflows and integrated datasets.
  • Appraise industry trend and changing regulatory landscape. Strengthen internal processes and governance.
  • Listed transactions’ coordination, order management, checks and reconciliations.
  • Ongoing oversight and management of budget, cost, and business administrations.
  • Support annual business planning and budgeting process.
  • Support ad hoc business needs and drive deliveries aligning with business agenda.
What makes you a successful candidate?
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in deal and investment operations, business management, project and process management, and strategic planning.
  • Strong system thinking and analytics capabilities. Excellent problem-solving skills with an eye for details.
  • A versatile, proactive self-starter. Thrive on navigating ambiguity, while managing multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • A good team player with strong stakeholder management and influencing skills. Ability to communicate strategically yet operate at a tactical level when required.
  • Good degree in Business, Finance or related fields with minimum 7 years relevant working experience in the financial services industry.
  • Knowledge of the private markets business is favorable.
