Job description
Post-doctoral Fellow/Senior Research Assistant in the Faculty of Education

The University of Hong Kong invites applications for a Post-doctoral Fellow/Senior Research Assistant (Ref. 533408) to commence from November 1, 2025 or as soon as possible, for one year with a possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a doctoral or master’s degree in Education, the Learning Sciences, Psychology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, with a strong background in technology-enhanced learning and assessment, AI in education, or learning analytics. Familiarity with theories of self‑ and socially‑shared regulated learning, digital literacy frameworks, and/or the role of generative AI in human learning is crucial. Preference will be given to those with expertise in innovative methods of advanced statistics and/or learning analytics, such as multiple linear regression, mediation analysis, mixed‑effect models, process mining, epistemic network analysis, and cluster analysis. Experience in managing and analysing large datasets and the use of generative AI tools for research purposes are relevant strengths. The appointee should also have a high level of writing proficiency for academic purposes and for a general audience, with English being essential and Chinese desirable.

Applicants in the final stages of their PhD studies may be considered for appointment as a Senior Research Assistant.

The appointee will work closely with the Principal Investigator and the project team to support the strategic development of a new large-scale research programme on AI in education, focusing on both understanding and fostering learners’ capacities for effective human‑AI interactions. Key responsibilities include:

  • Research and instrument design
  • Data collection, management, analysis and interpretation
  • Preparation for publications in peer‑reviewed journals and books
  • Collaboration with other project team members to liaise with schools, professional bodies and other relevant stakeholders
  • Supporting the preparation of research proposals for submission to external funders
  • Providing assistance in administrative and dissemination work

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.

The University only accepts online application for this post. Applicants should apply online and upload an up‑to‑date CV. Review of applications will start as soon as possible and continue until November 20, 2025 or until the post is filled, whichever is earlier.
